Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

. . . . By Opening One Book

If you've happened to pick up a book this week and gleaned some interesting snippet from it, this is the place to write about it. You don't have to write a whole book review; this is book talk for people like me who read in a very ADD-ish way, or on the fly (hm, who would be so busy that they couldn't ever finish what they were reading??).

So bang out a short blog post about that snippet (or if you've written one recently, that would be great, too) and post your link in the widget. Comments are also heartily welcomed.

I'm really trying out this link-widget gizmo right now, but would like to bring Opening One Book back as a regular feature after Easter. I'm keeping the link list open till this Saturday, then resuming the Saturday after Easter. Lots of bloggers are fasting from blogging and computers for Passiontide, I know, but if you're around, you're cordially invited to participate.

All kinds of reading welcome -- many people may be carrying powerful bits and pieces of spiritual reading in their minds as Holy Week approaches, and it would be wonderful to share that, as well as more lighthearted things (I wrote about a garden book . . . )

A blessed week to all!

Sally

I;m just seeing this... it's a very interesting idea. I have to think about all I have read this week. Thank you for posting this, Sally!

I'm going to close the list today (Saturday, 3/27), but bring the feature back again the Saturday after Easter. So if you don't get something written this time, save the idea for next time.

I'm not sure how often I'll do it (weekly? bimonthly?), but I thought that a sort of literary quick-takes would be a fun way to put together some thoughts about what we read without having to embark on a full-scale review -- or even finish the book.

Sally

Thanks Sally. I feel pretty ignorant this week, but hopefully with all the books lying about, I can learn SOMETHING in the next two weeks work sharing It really is such a fun idea.

I missed this!   This is a great idea. I have learned much more than a snippet from the book I am reading. I will share my thoughts after Easter.

Great! I'll look forward to hearing all your thoughts. I'll try to remember to post a reminder in Easter Week, too.

Bumping this up. I'll put up a post with a link widget late Friday and leave it up through the weekend. Book talk of all kinds -- spiritual reading, stuff you're reading with your children, novels, "information books" -- warmly welcomed!

Sally
