Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

for a pro-life medical clinic. I'm on the board of directors. Funds are extremely low - like we've had to warn the staff that the doors might close three times since Thanksgiving. Actually - that's probably the first request I should make to all of you - please join us in praying for the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe for money! I guess I'll go over and post on the prayer request board for that one.

So... we're planning a summer-time raffle. What would you like to buy raffle tickets for? A week at the beach in a donor's beach house? We live in a university town where football is BIG - so, airfare, hotel and tickets for an away game?

I'm concerned about the cost of the tickets, too. My husband and I talked about it, and we really couldn't afford tickets for much more than $20 or $25. How about you all? What seems too expensive?

Our Holy Name Society raffles off football tickets every year (2 season tickets for our local pro team) and they charge $10 per ticket.

Kiera, instead of an away game, you might talk to the university if they have any sort of box seats. then you could more concievably give away season box seats.. which might get a lot more people's attention than one away game.

We just did a raffle for the public school one of our kiddos attends, and raised some pretty good money. We did several "baskets" of themed items, and people could purchase the raffle tickets and put them in the drawing for whichever basket they wanted to try for. Our tickets were just $1 each, but you could easily do $10-$20 each for big packages.

You could do a "Tail Gate" theme with gift certificates for take-out food, a picnic table, propane tabletop BBQ; a "Team Shop" theme with shirts/sweatshirts/blankets/seat cushions/etc; a "Road Trip" theme with the away-game tickets, hotel, airfare, like you mentioned; and a "Homecoming" theme with the box seats/good seats, parking pass, maybe something signed by the coach/team? Some of the items you might be able to get donated, too! Or, if there's any way to find out if some of the players might support your cause, maybe they'd do a tour of the campus/stadium to throw into a package!

I love fundraising--am I weird? Praying for your clinic!

Thanks for your ideas, friends - and especially for prayers! We made it through payroll, and have started working on our spring golf tournament and kids' read-a-thon (homeschool and Catholic school kids raise $10K every year!). For the summer raffle, I'm leaning toward a package for a football away game. Here's the reason: simplicity. I am working on this fund-raiser alone - so if I can find a travel agent that would donate the package, we're good to go. Pray for the right travel agent to land in my path! We have supporters that own a bar-b-q place, and I'm thinking a family bar-b-q event at a nearby lake for the raffle drawing.
