Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I LOVE geography .......and I love getting to know all of you better .......so I was thinking about this today........wanna play "What's YOUR geography?" with me???

copy and paste these questions into your own post:

How far do you live from your birthplace?

How many times have you moved in your life?

Wanna list the places?

How many states?

How many countries?

I have always lived on the West Coast. I always WANT to live on the West Coast ..........as my husband says: "...at least one day's drive to the Pacific Ocean." I can get to the ocean in less than four hours.

I LOVE visiting everywhere else...as you old-timers are probably very aware ...........but I always want to come HOME!

How far do you live from your birthplace?

1964: I was born in Southern California, in Harbor City........where the Los Angeles Harbor can be found......about 2 hours from the Mexican border.

I now live in a small mountain town in Northern California, one hour from the Oregon border.......about 11 hours from my birthplace.

How many times have you moved in your life?

ALOT.......and we were NOT military.......or National Park Service (MaryM?) or National Health Service (Willa?). I went to 13 schools in 13 years..... three times in one year, TWICE. This was the product of divorced parents.

Wanna list the places?

So, I will just highlight:

ALL in CA:
Los Angeles: Westchester
Huntington Beach
1974: Venice Beach
El Segundo
1978: Agoura

Then, to Northern Nevada when I was 16 years:

1980: Stateline.....which is the Nevada-side of South Lake Tahoe

......I graduated form high school there.

1985: Reno.....where I attended the University......and where my oldest dd is now.

1988: north of Carson City, Nevada.....where we gave birth to our first child

1989: Small, Northern CA mountain town........in a rental for three years......and now 17 years in this house.........so, 20 years here, in ONE place!!!

TWO states...........ONE country!

How about you? Please play with me!

How far do you live from your birthplace?
I live 500 miles from my birthplace.

How many times have you moved in your life?
3 big moves.

Wanna list the places?
I was born in Port Huron, MI, which is a small town about 45 miles northeast of Detroit at the mouth of Lake Huron. When I was 13 I moved to Scranton, PA. At the age of 22 I moved to Bethlehem, PA to attended graduate school. And we moved back to Scranton when I was 29 when dh got his job up here. As long as dh is awarded tenure this coming week we won't be moving again!!!

How many states?
2

How many countries?
Just 1, but when I was living in MI I could see Canada across the river and my dad would drive our cars and my grandma's car over there every Saturday to fill them with gas. Back in those days the exchange rate made it worthwhile.

It has taken many years, but my body has finally reoriented itself so that I now think "north" when I see the ocean on my right-hand side. This does NOT make me happy.

Stacy, I was in Würzburg for only a year, but I loved the city. Very pretty with friendly people, good wine, and beautiful surroundings.

This was interesting... I hadn't counted all of my moves and it sure seems like a lot of moving and I did count my move to college and home again but that's only 2 - and we have been in the same place for 7 years now so all that moving happened during a period of 14 years... makes me tired just thinking about it!!! Of course I wasn't moving a whole household back then.
