Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I had to share this with some like minding folks...

My father in law has moved in with us full-time. My mil passed away last summer and its become clear that at almost 80 he cannot live alone. So, this week we spent getting his errands done. We went to the social security office, canceled his car insurance, and I took him to his new Dr near our house. One of the things we talked with the Dr about was his confusion. He gets confused about things, forgets things. The doctor asked him a lot of questions. The medical history went back to include his grandparents! I helped answer when I could.
Then the Dr asked him how many grandchildren he had. He answered, "8".
I have 5 living children and my BIL has 1. Not thinking twice I corrected him.
He looked right at me and said," No, I have six here and two waiting in heaven."

Maybe he's not so confused after all.

Jen,

Tears came to my eyes because my grandfather just did the same thing. He is in hospice care and very confused most of the time. A friend came to visit him that had not seen him in a while and asked about his great grandchildren, he quickly answered 5. My mom corrected him and said, "No. Mimi only has 4 children." He looked straight at my mom and said "No, there is one waiting for me in heaven!"

When I heard the story , I just stood in awe and gave him a big hug.

God is so good!

When my grandmother had advanced Alzheimer's, the only coherent words she could say were the words to the Hail Mary, one of her favorite prayers.

I believe we are given these very special moments with our beloved, if forgetful, parents and grandparents so that we once again remember our (and their) hope of spending eternity in Heaven.

What a beautiful image - a loving grandfather arriving in Heaven to embrace a beloved grandchild!

very touching.

You are doing a very dear thing taking him in. Your children will remember you as a wonderful person when they are grown. And I hope that you are able to make some more good memories with him.
