Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone have experiences with Dell?

Dh ordered a computer that was supposed to have arrived at the end of Dec.

We're still waiting.

Dh would get an email about a delay - dh would call - the date would be moved back up and then in a few days we would get another email giving another delay later than previous one. This has happened 3 times now!

We are supposed to get back some money after all is said and done - and they haven't actually charged us yet.

It's just been weird.

I am hoping there are some good experiences out there!

I think it's the around Christmas thing.. they just can't keep up.

When we got our last couple of computers.. neither near the holiday season there wasn't any problems at all.

My last 3 computers have been Dell's, and I never had a problem with any of them. Until the last several months with this one. But it's really old, like it's owner.

I have heard HORROR stories about Dells.

And I've heard wonderful things.

But mostly? Horror stories. Horrible customer service, horrible repairs/warranty work...yeah.

Sorry.

I'm on my third Dell (1 desktop, 2 laptops). We love it, except they always take so much use and abuse that we wear ours out every few years. My 13-yo is planning to re-format(?) the harddrive of the desktop so it can be our entertainment (pictures, movies, music) machine. The first laptop will be the homeschooling pc, and I can go back to using my laptop just for me. Our problems have stemmed mostly I think from carelessness (moving laptop from place to place without unplugging first, etc.).

hth.

We have two Dell laptops, both purchased 2nd hand.
One of them is having either a battery issue or a connection issue, like Stef's it has been moved alot before we got it. Probably a common laptop problem.

Happy anyway with them

We've been pleased with Dell. A little hassle with the delivery on my computer, and somewhat frustrating event with CS that couldn't change, but very pleased overall. We have only owned Dells, and just bought our news ones from there.

We've had 4 dells now- 3 laptops (2 for work, 1 for personal use) and a desktop. We've been *really* happy with all of them until the laptop I have now. Customer service has been particularly good to work with on the problems with this computer.

We are on our second Dell. We have had pretty good luck with customer service, although I have had one bad CS experience. I have a friend who had a *terrible* CS experience with them. He ordered a part, it was delayed and kept being delayed further. They charged his CC but kept delaying the part. Finally, he said to just cancel, they said his complaint came too late and I think basically were telling him he would get no part and no money back (I obviously don't remember the whole story, but I know it involved no money back and no part). He became a super squeaky wheel and I think they started avoiding him. He finally got his part but it was a long ordeal and he would never get a Dell again.

I will say that I do not think they are as good as they were when we got our first Dell in '03.

Thanks for the feedback -

I am hoping it is mostly a backlog from Christmas - it's now supposed to be shipped either today or tomorrow and arrive Monday.

My dh has had similar feedback - everything from horror stories to great experiences.

I guess we'll see....
