Does anyone know of a boy doll out there -- like an AMerican Girl doll, but a boy? I have two littles that would be extremely happy to get their sister a boy doll (that they of course could play with too  ). Target used to sell a line called, "Faithful Friends" that had a boy, but they don't anymore. I'd like an 18" doll is that's possible.
Any ideas folks?

Mary,
American Girl sells the Bitty Twins. One's a girl and one's a boy. We call them Maria and Christopher in our house. They're not 18" dolls but they're not babies either. They're toddlers and wear clothes that are gender-appropriate. If you only want the boy, I'm sure you could find someone willing to have the girl...

I'm glad you asked, Mary! I was looking around for my son. I had started a post a while back...I think it's a gender biased conspiracy! Okay, I'm a little farreaching, but it makes me wonder. Is it the psyche of a woman/girl/baby that likes the same gender? The girls play and dress girl baby dolls. Girls grow up into mommies and want girl babies to dress up. Look at all the clothing for girls, compared to the boys!
Is the doll industry perpetuating the girls wanting girl babies, even when grown up, or just following our female instincts? There aren't many boy dolls out there to have girls love and "cherish" as babies.
I recently wrote to my sister to give me suggestions for baby boy dolls. She had suggested Mini Calin doll by Corolle. I'm eyeing this one, but also thinking of a Paul Drink and Wet for our potty training...but that's another story.

I hate to be picky -- but I'd like to move away from baby dolls -- even the "Bitty Baby Twins" are toddlers but wearing diapers. Why hasn't AMerican Girl added a boy -- or MyTwinn -- or someone! How sexist can you get! I'd think girls would want to play with boy dolls, too? Or am I crazy?

That's my feeling! I got the American Girl catalog this winter (before the controversy) and started ranting to my husband -- WHERE ARE THE BOY DOLLS???!!!!

I don't think you're crazy Mary! I have been asking the same thing for years! I love how the dolls and stories tie together American history and imaginative play. It's a neat way to get the younger kids involved with the history.
We coop with a few families, and out of 11 kids, there is only one girl ~ a lovely 7 yo who is simply pining to do an American Girls club with someone. The 6 yo boys have expressed some interest ... but ... only if it's an American Kids Club, if it's heavy on the handcrafts and "not too girlish"  !
Sorry, I'm getting off-topic ...
My boys do have one doll; it is from Magic Cabin Dolls. It was rather expensive (Christmas gift from Nana and Papa!) and only is played with occasionally, but they do play with it more when any little female friends are visiting .

OK, MacBeth -- that was way too easy! But I still think it's a darn shame AG doesn't have a boy. Hey, why don't we threaten another boycott if they don't have a boy -- after all, after last time the doll they just happened to introduce is homeschooled and on a mission trip with her parents.....

My dd3 calls one of her baby dolls "Gilbert". When I pointed out that the doll was a girl ( dressed in pink and bows) I was adamently informed ( as only a 3 year old can) that it was, in fact, a BOY. Alrighty. 
And, well, the face isn't that girlish.
So I would say, yes, girls do want to play with boy dolls too
Didn't they used to have that "My Buddy" doll that was a boy doll?

Agreed. My girls used to say that they would start an American Boy Company when they grew up. Yeah, I thought...then they can support me!

Lucas was given a a Fisher Price "Eddie" doll for his 3rd birthday. He loves it! It came with a CD. I'm sure WalMart, etc. carry them... fwiw.

LOL I called American Girl and told them that my kids wanted some American Boys with looots of extra accessories so that they could do great guy things with a historical perspective....they took my comments...the lady on the phone even told me that her son would have loved one!

Y'know JP had an Eddie and then Nanna gave him a Bob the Builder (that talks  ) for his 3rd bday -- but they're not dressable or cuddly or what a girl or a boy would look for in a doll -- being able to play out what they're thinking or feeling or wanting....
It just seems that it's such a HOLE!
