Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I received a really sharp kitchen knife!! I have needed that for so long, so sick of wrestling with meat! And a wooden cutting board to go with it.

How about you Laura?

My hubby decided to give me something that he *didn't* want (rather then something he wanted and thought I'd probably like)

He gave me a vanilla almond bath set. Add the nice tea and bath pillow a sister gave me and I'll be set for a nice long bath while he watches the children.

My hubby was funny--I alway make caramel popcorn for Christmas-and on the 24th he asked me if I wanted him to start the caramel corn. When I told him yes, he told me he would only do it if I opened the present he got me first. It was this microwave popcorn popper.

It works like a charm--although I don't know how to use it yet--I haven't had the chance to try.

My sister gave me a Trans-Siberian Orchestra CD. Not Christmas (which was all I had of them) very cool. We like the music which makes it rather awkward to be listening to Christmas music when you don't really want Christmas music simply because you like the style of the music

I got a crockpot with a locking lid.. also very cool since the most I use a crockpot is for taking it places.

I got a book on organizing for adults with ADD. I've read a bit already.. very neat. I read some in amazon's "look inside" feature.. and was    I knew I had some ADD tendencies but no clue how much I think. I'm so good at working around things.. so this is really helpful since the ideas are ones that might work better for me than run of the mill ideas on organizing.

Laura,

I wanted to start the same thread!!

We got a new toaster oven, Our old one, the wedding present one (12 years ago) was on one hinge and was really in need of replacing. The special thing is that my uncle, the priest, bought it for us. He really wanted to get us something practical and my mom said we needed it badly. I am so very thankful for how generous he was with us!

My Mom bought us a new comforter set! I am so excited and it makes our bedroom look beautiful!

Laura, You asked what we got but what did you get????

Our 6yo made me a postcard holder from a little section of our old apple tree with lots of sawing, sanding and waxing - I knew about it, but really played up how I longed for one but didn't think I could have one, and he was SOOOOOOO proud when I opened it and was so surprised My husband carved me two chestnut wood spatulas and a darling apple wood porridge spoon and made me beads from some of the apple wood for a necklace. I also got the Venerable Bede's Ecclesiastical History of the English People [which was a surprise for real but is very interesting], rainbow coloured toe socks and a voucher for yarn from my parents, a photo mug from my middle sister, a handmade handbag charm from my baby sister, and lots of happy moments.

Set of blue-coated, white-enameled cast-iron cooking pots. They're very heavy but I cooked Christmas dinner with them and they cook a great meal and clean up very nicely.

A big box of Godiva chocolates
2 corelle dish sets to add to what I already have
a silverware set for 16 plus hostess serving set (now I have some silverware that matches!)
a sweater jacket
isotoner gloves and footies
bare essentials makeup starter set
new reboks to replace my worn out ones
two insulated travel mugs that were rec'd here and that I love
only two gifts were duds - sorta. Both from my mil and rather typical of her.
a garmin. I've lived here my entire life. I don't ever get lost. It's stuffed in the closet until I go somewhere that my iPhone isn't enough.
A picnic tote that might tote enough for 2 people on a diet. Lol

i got spoiled!

my dc each got me a webkinz - the green dragon and the guinea pig! (i like to play the webkinz games)

my mom got me scrabble slam - which we have been playing and i think is way fun but i keep winning so now no one wants to play with me anymore!

dh got me a few DVDs of TV series i like (among them the complete series of Farscape!)...the Mamma Mia soundtrack....a few DS games....the Sorcerer's Stone necklace from HP....an Alice in Wonderland themed teapot...and an awesome half-apron from a friend's Etsy shop...

i got DH woodcarving tools, some woodcarving books, a few cards games, a few movies, a T-shirt, a bunch of maple flavored stuff (popcorn, peanuts, cream...)....

the kids got him a paint-your-own-gnome (my dh likes gnomes...) and Wii Lego Batman.

i guess we are not so much for the "practical gifts" around here

My dd's jealous about the webkinz, Laura Her account expires in two days!

Let's see - my haul included a laptop fan and more memory , chocolate and junk food , and a gift certificate for an air purifier so I can purchase whichever one I think is best . Dh has also given me the go ahead to by more curriculum and a "guilt-free" certificate to purge stuff in our house. I needed that because I always feel bad when I've bought something (food, clothes, books, or otherwise) that just doesn't work out. Some other things I got were new shirts and some shampoo bars.

Other than the laptop fan (which I'm fond of to keep my lap from catching on fire I think I like the go-ahead to buy curriculum the most! What does that say about me that I'd rather buy algebra DVDs for my kids than anything for me?

My in-laws gave us our zoo membership as my present and a begian wafflemaker! We had waffles for lunch Christmas Day.

My husband gave me new silicone spatulas, books! (Picture Perfect Childhood, Mommy Teach me, and For the Love of Literature) and my big present was a donation to Food For the Poor in my name. It was super sweet of him to know I would truly appreciate that. He told me later that he convinced the people he works with to skip the usual gift exchange and they pitched together to buy a goat from there also.

And one truly sweet gift was from my 5 year old; we didn't have our kids shop for us or each other, I just suggested that they make things for each throughout December but none of them wanted to. On Christmas Eve my 5 year old was extremely upset that he hadn't made anything for us or bought anything. He wrapped up for me, in wrapping paper he made, a pen that my husband had given him that he loved. It was so sweet.

Ok, this wasn't necessarily a gift for me but was just such a HUGE answer to prayer that I need to share. I have a friend who has had subfertility issues for almost 9 years. She called me on Christmas Eve to tell me she is Pregnant!!!!! This is just beyond words. She isn't sure how far along she is. Please keep her in your prayers.

Thank you ladies,
Michelle

DH and I went on a trip together a few weeks ago and that was our gift to each other. :)

From my in-laws I received a gift card for amazon, and the same from my future SIL. Do they know me or what??? :D My mom made me a new knitting bag and also gave me a gift certificate for some fabric I've been drooling over for about 6 months now.

An electric tea kettle (already has been used many times)

lap desk

perfume

a wool coat (with a hood that make me look like Emperor Palpatine, which, in my house, is considered cool)

body lotion

a wooden spoon

a flour sifter

Belgian dark chocolate

Stones into Schools (my ds 11 picked this out all on his own because he remembered how much I loved 3 Cups of Tea, he was so proud and I was so touched)

sheepskin slippers .

Merry Christmas!

Anita
