Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Apologies if this has been done before. But I was just reading an e-mail from Amazon telling me that I could use Super Saver Shipping and get stuff in time for Christmas--as long as I ordered by Dec. 17.

"Oh, that'll be easy to remember--I just have to order before we start the O Antiphons," I thought.

Then I realized how Amazon obsession + O Antiphons was a a very Catholic homeschooler combination.

Anyone want to share their "You know you're a Catholic homeschooler when..." stories?

When we moved here, and met the pastor of our new church, he gave us the name of the only other homeschooling family in the parish. I called and the mom and I had a nice chat and decided what mass we would meet at. We had no idea who was who in church, but she came right up to us after mass and introduced herself saying, "I knew you were homeschoolers because you had a MagnifiKid with you."

We were on a family trip to Duluth and stopped at a restaurant on the way there. IN THE BATHROOM a woman looked at me and asked if I was a homeschooler ~ because I had on a long skirt just like her.

You know you're a Catholic home schooler when you catch your 6- and 7-year-olds "playing" the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

We must be doing something right!

You know you're a Catholic homeschooler when:

You purposely don't comment on Catholic blog quizzes (you know the answer and it's only 7:00 a.m.);

You find yourself explaining how St. Anthony will pray for you while you look for your daughter's lost dance shoes to the other dance moms (we found them 1/2 hour later at the other dance studio...thank you, St. Anthony!); and

You buy copies of Tomie de Paola (and other) books you already own, just in case you find someone who needs a copy.

PS - Then there's the part where you drag your family to a shrine way out of your way, because you just HAVE to...and it's the best day of your trip. Thank you, St. Anthony and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton!

This is SOOOOOO me    Most of my thrift store and library book sale books are ones I couldn't just leave there - I MUST know someone who would like that book and hey, it's only a quarter

God bless,
Christine
