Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well it's not exactly scaling back.. but it's something I'm excited about. I was going to get pomegranites while they're on sale this week.. and attempt to store them so that they'd be good for stockings.. but I was worried about the length of time.. but I know from past experience that we wouldn't have any in the stores by Christmas either. And then it hit me.. partly because I was going over my lists with an eye to reducing..

I could give the pomegranites on St. Nicholas day instead of waiting for Christmas.. that would WORK.

I'm working on writing down ideas now.. it helps me even if I know what I *want* to do is way overboard.. I can write them down and see how overboard I am and then work to reduce.. like I've given up on the idea of putting the pocket Daring book for girls and the pocket Dangerous book for boys in stockings.. those are just way to much money for stockings.. and rather than disrupt the other book ideas.. I decided that those particular books will do just fine waiting for another year or even 2 years before being used.

Right now I'm working on things for the stockings.. and two $5-10 gifts for my girl 12, boy 11 and girl 8.

In stockings -
I have hotwheels for the boys.. and polly pockets or barbie things for the middle girls.. some fisher price little people for the two youngest (they'll get some sets under the tree so extra people will be in the stockings) and sewing things for my oldest.. so I just need a couple of little things (under $1) for each and I think we'll be good there.. those might be things I buy when I see them.. maybe hair doodads or lotion for the girls.. hmm what would be good for the boys?

i think Girl 8 needs some sort of toy thing for her other gift.. Boy 11 has a book on camping and a compass as his gifts so far.. one more.. hmmm And Girl 12.. oh.. I know.. I have (as in literally have in a drawer) a pair of earrings for her.. excellent.
