Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

i was searching the other day for Jogues (Isaac Jogues) and it kept giving me "Joe" results, like it won't even recognize the name Jogues.

today i was searching for "Michele" looking for a thread Michele Quigley posted on here, and it kept giving me "Michelle".

i have no idea why Google doesn't trust my spelling. it automatically "corrects" me!!   so annoying.

anyone have any idea what's going on?

no clue.. though when I did a search on Michele, while it did pull up some Michelle as well it had a lot of Michele and Jogues pulled up on Jogues for the first page at least.

I don't see anything in the settings that would do that.. are you signed in and have more options that might be tripping you up that way?

I believe that to be as helpful as possible in their search results, Google relies on all information it has on you--so if you're signed in while you're searching, it could be drawing on text from emails, past searches, bookmarks, etc., in determining how to order your results. Not sure if that's what at work...strange.

Stef, if you want to make sure you get only results that use the exact spelling you search, try putting a plus sign before the term: +Michele.

Try "Joques" with a Q, not a G, and you should get better results.

The thing that I wonder at is that the same search words don't always yield the same list. I've learned to bookmark the list it pulls up so that I can find it again.

Peace,
Nancy
