Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Where we live, cable is not an option and satellite service is expensive. We want to cancel ours. The array of digital receivers out there, just to pick up pbs and a few local channels for the weather and news is more than daunting.

Has anyone else waded into this, now that rabbit ears don't work anymore? Where do we begin?

We have an antenna in the attic and the converter box at the TV. We gets lots of stations, most of them with additional channels (I don't know what that's called) - things like 26-1, 26-2, etc. We live kind of between Baltimore and DC, so maybe there are just lots of waves to catch. No idea how well this works in other places.

Peace,
Nancy

I just have to say the converter changed our channels and gave us a few more--according to dh who watches enough TV for the entire family. If you can get a converter you might want to try it. Dh was surprised we got more channels and better quality than an antennae. We are about 45 minutes from a bigger city with TV stations.
We just bought ours online with our rebate--since we have a 20 plus year old TV.

We are like Nancy except we have a directional antenna on our television set that worked wonders for digital TV until the switchover.

Two of our channels changed location ON the switchover date and we no longer receive them. Very frustrating to have spent money on an antenna to find out it won't work... after the fact??? (they went from UHF to VHF? Or something like that). One of them is a football station.

There's a website to help you. It might be antennasdirect? Can't remember. Best Buy also sells antennas.

You can go to www.dtv2009.gov and get a coupon for $40 toward a converter. You can use the coupon to redeem it at a local store. We have not watched tv in several years, but it might be nice for the boys to watch a football game here and there.
