Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I really can't remember if I've shared this here or not, but my dh had a vasectomy after the birth of Allyson, three years ago. When she was born we had an almost three year old and an almost two year old. We were nominal Catholics at the time and it really felt like the right thing to do. Well, the past few weeks I've really been thinking about more children. Usually these thoughts come during prayer and adoration. And I try to argue with God..."are you kidding? We just went through a major life crisis and are deeply in debt! Plus we don't have any baby "stuff"! Oh yeah, and Nick is sterile!!"
Well, I could not get any peace until I talked with Nick. Really casually "So, have you ever thought about having the vasectomy reversed?"
"Why yes, I have been thinking about more children lately, which is quite odd. What in the world would we do with another baby!"

So, we had a long conversation. Nick is very analytical and likes to have a plan. He will seriously consider vasectomy reversal after:
1. I lose a considerable amount of weight and get in optimum physical health for another pregnancy/delivery
2. We repay at least 50% of our Katrina debt.
3. We find a MD who will do the procedure at a very reduced rate (like, uh, free.)

I'm not even sure God is telling me to have more babies...the procedure might not even work. But I feel like we have to try and make things right with Him and the teachings of the Church.

I'm excited and scared, and wanted to share it with all of you!!
Jennifer

Jennifer,
God knows your heart, and your attitude toward obedience to Him will please Him so much! No matter what His plan is for you and your dh, your act of obedience, and having your heart want to please God in all ways is a beautiful way to show Him how much you love Him!

Just pray, and if it's the Lord's will, He will lead and guide you, and make a way for it to all happen according to His plan. God bless you!

That's wonderful! FWIW, once my dh's heart starts to soften about stuff, he often doesn't need ALL his requirements met (he's very analytical too)...praying that your dh will be the same way. :) Pray that God will make your dh's heart like His. It's a good prayer.

This is wonderful news! Just a few weeks ago a woman at our church asked for prayers for another baby after her dh's reversal!!

Check the One More Soul sterilization reversal page for lots of stories and click on the list of doctors who will help for more information about drs. in your area who may do low cost procedures.
