Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone purchased/made any extra lovely faith based gifts to give for Christmas this year? Thanks!

Love,

We do a new 4" Saint statue from here each year. This year I think they'll go into stockings! They love them and it's so fun to get a saint from a Saint (Nick)

I like Holy Bears, too. I pick them up at a local church gift shop.

Dear Angie,
I got His Story beaded bracelets for my goddaughters and a nativity set with a kneeling Santa for my godsons. Both are from Roman, Inc. The webiste is www.roman.com but I can't seem to connect tonight to give you direct links. Hopefully I can edit later.
For Nicholas' Godfather, I got George Weigel's new book
God's Choice. For a young girl who asked me to be her Confirmation sponsor Letters to a Young Catholic. For my Dad, an icon of the Polish Black Madonna and a copy of Peggy Noonan's John Paul the Great. I just finished Noonan's book (at the recommendation of MacBeth's dh) and I really recommend it.

I found these great Advent "Calendars"early in the season for nieces and nephews.

We made angel-shaped soaps with lavender from our garden and angel beeswax ornaments. I tucked little magnets that say "Create a clen heart in me O, Lord" in with the soaps.

And for my husband, I went a little crazy and bought a Last Supper painting for our dining room. I'm more than a little nervous about it.

Devin purchased one of these at a church gift shop locally and really likes it. I just received a bracelet following the same idea but it is more for, ahem, mature women . I'll ask my sister where she found it.

I picked up a few rubber bracelets at a local Catholic store (like the ones shown at this link.)

Love,

I recently found out that this family business is run out of Mesa, AZ, and the family belongs to our homeschooling group! The teen girls here really like the shirts from their Catholic Girl line. I'll need to meet these folks .

Yes, you do. I've worked with Sam when they exhibited at our conference. He is really neat - I'm sure the rest of the family is as well!
Here is another on-line store -Catholic Posters.com -that carries a line of Catholic t-shirts as well as posters and mugs of PJII and Benedict XVI which would make neat gifts. (They have some wrist bands, too.)

Oh, another really great gift is beaded Catholic jewelry. We have a lady locally who makes the most beautiful bracelts, necklaces, earrings (as well as rosaries, but those you can find n lots of Cathoic stores). Her things are very popular at our Catholic homeschool conference. Unfortunately she doesn't have a website - although Aquinas and More carries some of her pieces (the pictures here don't do them justice). I found a site which carries a similar type jewelry to what I mean. They are beautiful. Handmaid for the Lord

I am definitely a book buyer when it comes to gift giving. Do they count as lovely? Well, I absolutely think this one does:
Letters to a Young Father
It is a thin, easy to read book designed as a sort of meditation on what goes into being a good father. My husband did it (after we had 3 or 4 kids) as a Bible study, and I have read it a few times and taken away many insights. I have some soon to be new parents on my list that it's going to. It is not a Catholic book, but it is Catholic friendly.

The favorite of the kids books I'm giving is Bethlehem. The illustrations are too beautiful.

And to add to my religious workout shirt collection, this is what I wantMission from God t-shirt . I love the picture.
