Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone had any luck with henna covering gray hair? If so, what brands have you used?

I tried one last year, but it was such a mess to use. And my hair was a bit too orange. (My normal haircolor is dark brown.)

The gray really ages me. My skinny face already makes me look older. I really don't want to look like my toddler's grandmother.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry I didn't see this thread before.

I haven't used henna but I'm seriously considering it. I've colored my hair red twice now (I'm naturally dark blonde with very fair skin) and I want to go with something more natural. Have you seen this site?

hennaforhair.com

I've browsed around there and learned quite a bit I didn't know before. There's a forum and FAQ and even a free e-book...and lots of other stuff. According to the people there, you need to use pure plant products, and not a boxed mix, because they have chemicals in them.

If you mix henna with some other things (all natural stuff from plants) you can get different colors. Cassia is a natural plant substance that will give you a golden color. It won't bleach your hair lighter; if you have dark hair it would just make it glossy. You can mix cassia and a little henna for strawberry blonde. Indigo is used to give you darker shades, and there are a couple more things I can't remember right now.

Check it out! And let me know if you decide to order anything. I'd love to see pics.
