Wow, here's a great quote from St. Josemaria Escriva ... which also gave me a bit of a chuckle (because it's so true!):
Quote:
So you have been hauled over the coals? Don't follow the advice of pride and lose your temper. Say to yourself: how charitable they are towards me! When I think of all they must have left unsaid!

I love that: "think of all they must have left unsaid."

I LOVE that...can't you see how ingraining that on your heart would change your response?

well, first I'd have to curb the "knee jerk" response long enough to allow my heart to shut my mouth

That is priceless, and so true! I know how charitable I feel when I am laying into my husband or kids, for all I could be saying!
On the other side of the coin, I need to try to remember this when I get a little prideful about what a great wife I am because dh never complains or criticizes me. It probably isn't so much my perfection as it is his charity!

This is one of my favorite quotes of St. Josemaria. I try to keep in mind when I think of someone I love is being so annoying. I try to remind myself they are tolerating all of my faults. Not that this always works, but I try!
