Hi Ladies,

Has anyone heard from Erin or Anne...or any other Aussie friends we have on this board? I sent Anne an email, but I thought I would post on here as well and see if anyone knows if they are near the fires. I am not familiar with Australian geography enough to know where our girls are located. Praying for safety and peace for all involved.

I am also concerned. I learned of the fires yesterday on the radio (sort of out of touch with the rest of the world this weekend) and immediately thought of Anne and all of our friends in Australia. From what I heard, the fires are in Victoria region ... is that where Anne lives?

Praying also for safety and peace for everyone in the region.

Thank you for your concern...we live a long way, away up north thank goodness, though I was born in this state and saw the Ash Wednesday fires in the early 80's where 70 or so died, this is 4 times as bad.

Completely devestating the speed and ferocity of it. I last read 135 confirmed dead but the final figure will be in the 200's..

Erin, Leonie, At_His_Feet (Tricia), Chem 39 (Chemai) are all further north as well. Amethyst (Jenny) is far west of it all...there are more Oz girls on the boards but I am not sure of their locations..praying none are nearby..I tend to think not..

Here is a report being circulated at present in regards to homeschoolers in the bushfire areas:

"Dear HEN Members and friends,

Across the country, people have been shocked and saddened by the news of the Victorian bushfires. We are all concerned about friends and relatives in the fire areas as well as by the sheer scope and immensity of the suffering. Many of you will also be concerned
about home ed friends and wanting news of them. We are therefore providing the following information to help our members find out about these friends.

One HEN family have lost the house they were living in at Kinglake but the family is safe. They were in the process of moving and therefore have somewhere to live and some of their possessions although they have lost a lot in the fire.

Another family at Steele's Creek is confirmed as safe and their house has survived although the house next-door is gone. A third family in Gippsland are safe - they were evacuated and the fire stopped at their door. We have confirmed several other families are safe in Beechworth, Kilmore and Yarraglen.

We do know of more home educators in the fire areas that we have no news of as yet. If you have news of home ed families please pass it on - hopefully we can reassure each other of their safety or offer assistance if they are in need."

Prayers are needed for these families as well as all affected.
