Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I received an email from the Consumer's Union who puts out Consumer Reports. They are trying to get credit card holders to put pressure on Congress to get some sensible reforms quickly. One big thing is that the credit card companies who are benefiting from the bailout are turning around and gouging their customers by raising rates and lower credit limits. As people find their payments go up and their credit ratings drop, more foreclosures are inevitable, even for people who are presently paying their bills and trying to be responsible.

Thank you for the information.

We are lucky. The only cc we have is a Discover Card. I recieved a letter from them with "important account information" I was sure the rate was going to go up, but they actually reduced it! We are carrying a fairly hefty balance for time in years so I was worried. But the letter stated that in response to these difficult times, Discover Card customers in good standing would recieve a rate reduction. Of course that went away if you miss a payment I called to confirm. I was told that they want people to be able to keep paying them (imagine that ) and recognized that if people feel the balance is "hopeless" they are less likely to make an effort to make timely payments. So yeah for Discover Card!
