Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I will be traveling to Orlando the first week-end in December with my 11 year old dd, my 22 month old and my mother for an Irish dance competition. Mass will be offered at the hotel on Sunday at 6:15 a.m. but I think this would kill us--my dd will have to compete after Mass and getting up that early will not allow her to get enough rest... I am hoping that we can make a Saturday evening Mass at a parish close to the hotel. We are staying at the Marriot Grand Lakes...The parishes mentioned to me are:
Mary Queen of the Universe, Holy Family and John Vianney--any recommendations to those of you living in the Orlando area? Many thanks in advance!

I hope you get some first hand advice on this one Jodie - but one idea might be to see if any of the parishes have websites - may times you can get a feel for a parish if you can read through a couple of weekly bulletins.

I did this kind of research for parishes for our vacation on Cape Cod - I have also found that parishes that have the Knights of Columbus more often seem to be no-nonsense kind of parishes in general. Not a hard and fast rule - but it seems to work for us.

I don't live in Orlando, but I've been to Mary Queen of the Universe and it is wonderful!! We went in January and their Christmas display was unbelievable. I'm not sure when they put it up, but that alone is worth the visit. Gorgeous church, wonderful people, very, very nice. Have fun! I have friends from here going to that same competition. Good luck!

Thanks, Donna, for the tips!

And thanks, Molly, hopefully Mary, Queen of the Universe, will be close to the hotel...

Hi Jennifer,
I am a little late to this thread. I agree with every one. Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine is beautiful. I don't know how close your hotel is to it though. The Shrine is not to far from Sea World. The traffic can sometimes be a little tough so you may want to allow some extra time.
Have a great time in Orlando!
