Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you ever wonder..... as you are standing in line, marveling at the ineptness around you, that if moms weren't so busy being moms, the world would be a much more efficient place????

Well, yes, it has occurred to me, but your post has me wondering.....What incident, in what line, did you just get out of that prompted this question?!?

Not really... I'm still puzzling how to become one of those "efficient" moms Part of it seems to be that just jumping in and doing stuff is a lot more likely to result in doing things well than not doing anything at all in many circumstances because you are afraid of not doing it well...

The other night someone (also a mother, with a lot more kids than I have) saw me standing up wearing my baby in a wrap, holding a bowl of snacks (it was a parish All Saints' Day party) and writing down some info on a piece of paper on a table in front of me, and made a comment about how moms can do so many things at once. I was kind of embarrassed thinking how so unlike me it is to function as one of those "she can do it all, all at once!" types of women. I felt like a fraud or something appearing to be capable of what I was in fact doing at that moment

I did hear once in the debate of women in the military that, at least in terms of military, they would be *too* efficient. i.e., the mama bear phenomenon would take over

I think that perhaps women are designed to be efficient over their own personal space (the home). Running the world might be super efficient, but I'm not so sure that a *group* of moms would be so good at compromising with each over how to do things Sometimes I think it is the uncompromising nature of a mom that makes a home run so efficiently.

Even if it worked out that way, I'm not sure that people would tolerate such efficiency

My husband hates when I say something should be done a certain way because it's more efficient.

ETA: He is a soldier and the military has never been known for its efficiency.
