Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wasn't sure where to put this, so please feel free to move it if needed.

I'm on the team for a retreat that's coming up in a couple months. The theme is Handmaids of the Lord, and it's all about Mary, the joyful mysteries, etc.

Anyhow, I was asked to come up with some songs that fit the theme. I remember several years ago, someone sang a solo in the choir and it was a sort of contemporary version of Ave Maria. All I can remember is a line from the chorus that went:

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria,
Mother of something,
La la la la...

I know that was probably completely unhelpful, but when I've tried searching for it, I'm getting nothing. So, if you have any idea what that song is, it would be a huge help! Thanks!

If you can, get your hands on Sing of Mary by Gretchen Harris. This is my very favorite CD- it's got a bunch of wonderful contemporary (and traditional) Marian songs. I'll bet the one you're thinking of is on there.

Emily,

It sounds like the song "Ave Maria" which was composed, sung and produced by the Daughters of St. Paul (copyright 1985). It is on a cassette tape entitled "God's Child." You might want to check with the Daughters of St. Paul for the exact lyrics to see if it's the one you're thinking of. Karen
