I have had a horrible, anxious day today.
So, please help distract me. What are you doing tonight?

Your quote is exactly what I did today! Now, I can't get to sleep-because it appears that the rest of my week will be just about the same.
So now, I jsut ordered some new workbooks for my very slow reading 3rd grader. After that I came here to see if I would find any company. I am glad that I did!

Hi Laura,
My day was anxious too. Wonder if we are being called to bear burdens for each other or for someone else we don't know?
I just finished helping my 9th grader with homework (he is going to ps this year) and doing a puzzle with my 9 year old. The others are watching a movie. So I thought I'd get on here while it was quiet for a moment
It's only 10 pm here, so I'm not ...too...sleepy.

You mean besides the part where I am up at 1:06 and I have to publish two articles tomorrow AND teach children and take dd to dance class?
Our parish music director asked for prayers for all the cantors and musicians. It does feel as though there are many people who feel spiritually threatened right now. I think prayers to St. Michael are in order.
Saint Michael Prayer
While you're praying, please remember the musicians and cantors I know and love...thank you.

I'm researching articles that are due this week, trying to plan this week's schooling, creating this week's to-do list, answering a bunch of your posts , and trying to convince my 6yo to stay in his bed.
I will pray for a peaceful night for you, Laura!

Thanks, Ladies!
DH is home now, and we have been watching the BBC's Robin Hood on DVD this evening.

Do any of you notice weather patterns or changes having noticable effects on family mood and/or behavior? I've been keeping track for several years now and see distinct mood shifts with weather changes, full moon etc. With Hurricane Ike impacting weather across much of the country, it's no wonder so many are either experiencing anxiety or struggling. Offering up our difficulties for victims of the hurricane, for the upcoming election, for those in wartorn countries, and for a host of prayer needs can bring grace out of misery. I've been awake since 2am, unable to go back to sleep, and find myself praying for many intentions, including our diocese, which just announced widespread mergers and possible closures in some parishes. Prayers for all priests and for an increase in priestly vocations is a major intention to lift up to the Lord as we face a challenging new week. May the Lord bless and comfort all of you who are struggling right now. (Laura, we were watching very old Robin Hood DVDs last night, too.)

I think so...I notice things around the time of the full moon (health wise sometimes mood wise) and I am definately energized during electrical storms...I was born under a full moon..might explain my lunacy? When I said to my dh, two of our family members were born on full moons..dh was NOT surprised to hear it was me and our oldest child! (he is so much like me!)
Actually I feel anxious reading the news of Wall St at present, coupled with the financial hardships so many of you here are experiencing it makes for very uncertain times in many ways...
I recently received in the mail The Seven Cities of Gold (old movie with Bl Junipo Serra as one of the main characters) and Little Women made in the 40's or 50's so they have been a light-hearted distraction over the weekend.
Praying for you all, with so much happening in the States and on the board for so many of you!

Let's see, yesterday I did all the laundry from our vacation, ermmm, I mean "trip" LOL. My anxiety was wild yesterday but I am blaming it on hormones as the baby is almost 1yo now and things are getting back to normal (if you can call it that). We played Marshmallow Jeopardy after dinner. Hmmmm...more laundry? Mentally planned getting back into school today (where is the crashing to the ground after vacation icon?? )
Prayers for all of you!

"Mom, I'll take Science for 4 marshmallows."
"OK, here is your answer: The largest planet in the solar system."
"What is...Jupiter"
"Ding ding ding! You're right! Here are your marshmallows"
We're a crazy crew, but we have fun on Sunday nights with dessert. It usually involves some sort of marshmallow throwing.

I am so glad I saw this topic. I have been having unexplained increased anxiety recently and I was wondering what might be causing it. Virus? Weather? Moon? Anyway, thanks for being courageous enough to say something. My kids were watching the old Robin Hood show this weekend! What is up with that?

ditto on the electrical storms. I tend to sit outside during them, it is one of the few times I feel really 'good' - is that very weird?
Weather definitely effects people. My Mom gets really out-of-sorts when there is more than a few days of rain in a row. I think even the pressure systems must have an effect (like with the hurricanes, etc...)
I know for me, there has got to be some hormonal issues too - right before my (.) I have worse IBS, anxiety, etc.

Yeah, I've been down too - on myself - and so I've been eating too much!
Just deciding to keep on keeping on, doing what I normally do but with a smile. I find if I make myself smile, the smile starts to spread.
And I'm choosing happy workouts for me to do - workouts that make me feel plain good and energetic.

I think we are just because of what's happening in the culture, election stuff...the whole gamut!
Tonight, we have soccer, soccer and more soccer.
Tomorrow, we'll just have soccer...
Keep those rosaries and chaplets of divine mercy going!!!!
Prayer changes history!

We spent Sunday (evening) sitting in the near-dark with some candles while nature's fury blew most of Ohio away! But other than that it was great And, BTW, I love to stand outside in a huge windstorm or when a tornado might be coming. Crazy weather enlivens me somehow (I'm from KC, so tornados are par for the course).
We had crazy wind all day Sunday, power went out at 4, and this morning we got to see all the trees and gutter parts down all over the neighborhood.
On the upside, our power is back on, I got 2 bushels of windfall pears to can and I got to see dh play charades by flashlight with the kids..he's pretty good!
