Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am very excited about this possibility-I don't know much about her but what I have read seems very positive...

Anyone else have any thoughts??

I don't know much about her, other than she is very pro-life and has made a name for herself by being VERY tough and anti-corruption.

Very interesting. I think he made a great choice!

She has 5 children, and her youngest (6 mos.) has Downs Syndrome, I believe. I remember when she was pregnant and went back to work almost immediately after the birth. I'm interested in learning more about her.

Ladies I can understand how exciting this can be and how you want to discuss it.

I am going to ask that you use blogs to do so, as this would fall under "party politics" in our policy

I just read this article about her youngest son who has Down Syndrome...Palin Article

I think she's a great choice.

I was surprised about the comment that her son now is in a very select minority because most people are aborting Down Syndrome kids.

"The Palins never considered aborting the baby. That means that Trig Palin is now is a very rare group of very special children, because it is now believed that the vast majority of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome before birth are being aborted.

Modern diagnostic tests are driving a "search and destroy mission" to eliminate babies judged to be inferior, disabled, or deformed. Some experts now believe that up to 90 percent of all pregnancies diagnosed as having a likelihood of Down syndrome end in abortion."

Wow. This makes me incredibly sad. I had no idea this was going on. How sad.

I just posted about her, though not much to say yet. Please come visit and let's chat about her at my blog! I don't know much about her either, but I think at first glance, that she's a fab pick!! And I'm eager to learn more.

Jen, thanks so much for the info!

I don't think what I'm about to say falls under "party politics" but I have to say that I'm not thrilled with the thought of a few things, one being voting for a mother of 5, including a 1 year old as VP, and secondly, I feel very much like it was blatent politics to choose a woman...

Wow. I was going to just stay out of all the political talk - but I have to say this statement just blows my mind. She shouldn't be able to be VP 'cuz she has kids? Should she have not run for Gov either?

And so what if it was a political maneuver to choose a woman? It is politics. She is a *good* choice.

*SPEAKING AS MODERATOR*

This topic needs to end.

As long as we're still discussing candidates rather than Catholic principle.. it is party politics.

I know it's very tempting. But Stef has provided us with space on her blog to discuss it. Thanks Stef.

Nina just stepping in as moderator, this has been a subject that has caused alot of grief in a previous thread in the last couple of weeks, I know you were probably not aware of it in particular as I know you have been busy and not on the boards as often.

Stef is encouraging discussion at her place where I know your question will be answered if you ask it.

Nina, like you, this is a subject I REALLY like to discuss and with like minded women, but for the good of the board here it has been decided that it needs to be held somewhere else.

I do hope my post does encourages women to continue discussing this important subject but it must be at Steph's blog, I'm over there too, (the aussie girl who loves her US politics ) met you there!
