Twitter is like a combination instant message to lots of poeple and a mini-blog and a promotional tool. People like Lisa Hendey (Catholicmom.com) is on it, and will post links to her blog entries sometimes.

I use it to ask questions, post links, and just post what I'm doing (like watching the Olympics . . .again!)   That's pretty much what others I see use it for as well.     

You can also reply to a tweet made by others.

You have to be to-the-point because every tweet is a max of 140 characters long.

I admit it's kinda silly, but it's also fun and I try to keep informed about at least some of the new technologies

ETA: You choose certain people to follow, people can follow you, or you can also see ALL tweets in real time.
