So I am rather excited about this coming school year with all the great ideas I have found on this forum and all the possibilities that we can come up with to make this year a great one. I feel stints of guilt for not sending my girls to public school. And I don't know why!!

I have prayed about this many times, and I know why we are homeschooling. For all the same reasons many of you are. Lastly for the goal to get my dc to heaven.Or die trying (myself of course) I know that the challenges would be surmounted if they attended school, but in the back of my head I feel as though sometimes being home is not enough for them.
I feel as though they are missing out on something. I have chalked this feeling up to the evil one always tempting me with false lies. In all reality I think that home is where my children are going to get formed in all ways needed and they need to be here with me.

Maybe it is because I feel as though I am incompetent to teach them all that they need to learn. I feel as though I am not as organized as I should. I think I am just having cold feet. I will most certainly very happy about most of everything that is required of me.

This doubt I feel is sometimes overwhelming though. Do any of you ever feel this way?

We've been homeschooling since 1990...I've struggled through questions and doubts such as you described each and every single year in some fashion or another. You mentioned two very important survival tips...prayer and attributing those doubts to temptations from the evil one. Prayer has been my saving grace in every season of trial or doubt. Keep your eyes fixed on your core reasons for homeschooling...the souls of your children...and you will find those doubts melting away, no matter what your circumstances or difficulties.

This year we have had several deaths of close family members...I have been blessed to watch our children come alongside other family members their age who are schooled. Our decision to homeschool our children has been affirmed over and over as our children have responded with maturity and grace to very difficult experiences that many adults might cower from. Oneday you will see the everlasting fruits of the sacrifices you are making by homeschooling your children. Yes, we cannot give them all that the world has to offer...we are giving them something much better, something eternal! When you feel as though you are depriving your children of something better out there, simply fix your eyes on Heaven and "Pray, Hope, and Don't Worry".

Yes, I feel that way sometimes. I am lucky, as DH is totally committed to homeschooling, so when I waffle, he always helps for me to feel better.

It is always worse at this time of the year, as all the Back-to-school stuff is going on, too....

It has been especially bad this year as we have moved, we didn't know anyone, etc. But it's been getting better. DH is actually at park day right now with the two little ones. Since I am having such huge anxiety issues, he steps right up and takes them to things like that. I thank God that his schedule is what it it so that he is able to do so.

And you know what? I think it is important to be honest - they do miss out on some things - but they get to do other things that kids in school don't. It is a trade off.

You know it really is. For instance when we have visitors or when we visit my dc are very social. Usually our ps relatives are introverts hiding behind their parents. So that is a good thing that my dc have learned how to interact with people of various ages.
My brother commented once that he would like to homeschool his kids because he sees such a dramatic change in my children. Along with all that they are learning.
But I just feel that with all that is going on in with our family. My toddler having to go to speech therapy and a baby in tow it has been hard. I am amazed and at how many moms here with more children than I can do it all.
