I immediately thought of the names of my grandmothers and my dh's. I wouldn't say their are all "favorites" of mine but they certainly have that old-fashion flavor, don't they.
In our family the immediately grandmothers were:
Ila (everyone called(s) her I-lee and spells it Ilie)
Electa
Bertha
Paula
We also had (great-grandmothers):
Mary
Annalice
Eugenie
I'd have to get the family tree out of the closet to remember the rest.
My children have:
Carrie Bernice
Gloria Ann
What about yours?

Our grandmothers were:
Annie
Lyda
Marie
Coletta
My grandmothers didn't have given middle names and just used their maiden names when they got married. And I don't know what dh's grandmothers' middle names were. (They passed away long before I met dh)

Oh, I love this thread.
My kids grandmothers:
Barbara Mae
Jeanette Marie
Our grandmothers:
Hazel May
Vera Elizabeth
Marie Elizabeth
Gertrude Mary
And the one great-grandmother name I know:
Rose Anais (ahna-ees)---love that one!
My grandfather was William Carroll--I have always loved the sound of that name, and with a change in spelling, John Paul could be a patron.

My gmas are:
MariadelCarmen
Anna Margretha
Bill's are:
Georgia Mae
Rebecca
We have Maria Niamh and Cecilia Anne. Our next girl (God willing) will be Georgia Grace. Obviously we couldn't use his grandma's middle name (Georgia Mae May?) so we borrowed from my great-aunt Altagracia.
An interesting side note about my grandma Carmen. She was an illegal immigrant from Mexico until her 20s. Her experience was that white people tended to treat her less politely if she used "Carmen" so to them she would introduce herself as "Polly". None of us grandkids knew that her name was Maria or that Polly is a nickname for Mary so we always thought she was crazy for making up a "white" name for herself.
I love seeing all these names!

My kids grandmothers
Victoria Ann
Julia (no middle name, it was not common practice in Cuba, or at least where my mother was born and grew up)
My grandmothers
Gladys (again, no middle name)
Teresa (I think there is a middle name, but I cannot remember it right now)
Kathleen (went by Kay)
Regina (goes by Jinx)
Some Great Grandmothers
Elvira
Rosa
Teresa
Julia
This makes me think I need to sit and talk to my parents because I know there is a bunch I'm forgetting and there are some really interesting Cuban/Peruvian/Italian/Spanish names in the mix.

Pluma (Ploo-mah)Darlene
Ella Frances (she went by Frances)
My greats:
Mary
Sarah
Dh's:
Phoebe
Ina
Kids':
Coral Vondeen
Elaine
We've got some "originals", huh? We have a Sarah, but we really didn't realize how many Sarahs were on both sides until after she was named.
Our girls' middle names are Oneida (means long awaited) and Wilona (means longed-for) since we waited so very long for those babies! People always wonder about their names.

My grandmothers were
Irmgard Lorraine (Austrian mother)
Carol Fairfield, I think
Dh:
Ada May
Oh, gosh, I'm so embarassed that I don't know the name of his grandmother who is still living.
I wanted to name a daughter Irmgard for awhile but dh is not into overly ethnic names that don't match our last name, which is Scottish.

What? Am I the only one with a grandmother named Mildred??? The worst name ever? It was her sister-in-laws name, too!
My other grandmother was Elizabeth. I see plenty of those around.
Don's were Janet and...um...I forget . But a generation before that, there was a Jamesina. I like that one.
ETA: My grandmother's sisters were:
Gertrude (called Gert)
Margaret (Called Marge)
Clair
Bernadine (called Berno--awesomely awful!)

I'm enjoying this thread - names and geneology are both so facsinating.
My husband's grandmothers were Mary and Jimmie. Then there was a ggm, Harriet, but that's all I know - he is out of town this weekend so I can't ask.
In my family, maternal side (Basque, and all coming from Spain - pretty heavy on the Marias . None have the traditional Basque names as so many had adopted the Spanish variations - true Basque names are very unique.)
Juana - grandmother
Carmen
Maria San Juan
Maria Conception
Josefa
Maria
Maria Gertrudis
Maria Conception
(most of the Maria's were probably pronounced Maite, which is the Basque variation).
Paternal side (Polish immigrants)
Mary - grandmother
Agnes
Sofie
Julia
Katherine
Sophie
My sister named one of her daughters Agnes.
I always remember my dad's aunts have some of the real typical names I associate with being "old-fashioned" -Clara, Tess (Tessie), Vic (Victoria), Gert (Gertrude), Anna, Lucille.
