I have finally started journaling my thoughts. I have absolutely no intent on being "read" by anyone as A) who would find it among 60 million other blogs? B) who would care about my thoughts enough to spend the time? C) my thoughts get so wordy and long winded they generally only make sense to me. That's fine because often I find I'm encouraging and reminding myself of something that will be important to me later (as I have an unfathomably poor memory - I even blogged about it ). Occationally, however, I'd like to pass a thought on to someone without rewriting the whole thing (it sounds so pretentious, I think, to respond with a short chapter when only a sentence or two will suffice, but I find I have so many thoughts rambling around in my head I like to get them out so I can move on. This post is case in point ). Every once in a while I think I might have something that might encourage a friend (even if only on-line). So I started journaling on blogger.com and have a website but it cannot be accessed without my email address and password. Any advice as to what to do so I can show it to someone some time?

Oh my goodness, you are my twin! My fingers get a bit happy when I type so I'm not as concise as I could be. I have to explain and talk things out.
Any way, someone else might be able to help, but could you copy and paste an entry into an email to a friend?
Your friends are people who care about you. They know you and would certainly enjoy reading your blog!.

I think you can set blogger to have only certain other people read it? (I should know, LOL, but that would mean I'd have to check. )
Not many people read my blog, which sometimes I think is OK and other times makes me because way back when I used to have readers, LOL. So it really is OK to publish for all, and not have anyone visit. Depressing but OK. Unless you don't *want* to go public at all, it's probably easiest to just go public with it (set blogger so that anyone can read) and then just send the URLs to friends when there is something you want to share.
FWIW if you have the same username on the SL forums I bet I would like your blog.

If you want to stay private, definitely just cut and paste into an email what you want to share.
I have a few readers, too. I don't think I ever had as many as Amy did, but I think the blogdom got too much, and people cut back reading. I know I did, and also cut back on writing at my own. I get one time visitors because I have a few files on my blog -- people like freebies. As far as having anything worthwhile to say, I don't know.
That's okay with me. I think there's a lot of pressure sometime thinking there might be ALL these people reading, and what will they think. I did take my blog offline for a while, but then several people, including family, wanted to read, there were links I used that were no longer accessible, and it was too hard giving permission to these people, so I made my blog public again.
These are just ramblings to show you other people have a similar thought process, and there's no wrong or right answer. I think each person has the favorite blogs or sites they visit, choosing writers that speak to them.
I think you have to ask yourself why are you blogging? And for whom? Get those answers squared away to help you decide to go public or not.

On blogger, you can go into your blog settings and tell it whose emails can view/write on your blog ... but emailing a cut-and-paste might be your best option.

Thanks for the encouragement! I wasn't expecting that! My problem, now that I have (finally) decided to let it open to public viewing is that it can't be viewed. If I try to google it myself I get nothing. Even when I put in the URL address I can't get to it. The only way I can see it is to sign into blogger with my email address and password. I assume no one else can get in either.
I don't know how to get it public even though I've saved the settings on public viewing. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm with blogger too. You have to go back into your account, to your dashboard, then click on settings, and change there (I think) am I correct ladies?

yes. In your dashboard, go to the blog you want, and hit settings. Across the op, there is a tab that says "permissions."
Within that you need to change the "who can view this blog?" setting.
hth. I am looking forward to reading it

Yes, I believe you are correct. I have done so and opened up the blog to "anyone" rather than no one or selected viewers only. I was hoping there was something else I am overlooking because I'm at a loss here.

Do you want to post your blog url here and see if we can see it? Do you have posts on your blog? Are you typing the blog url completely?
Are you on blogger? Blogger url should look something like "http://saacademy.blogspot.com" ....

Thanks. I'll post and see if it shows up. If not, perhaps I can try another blog service. We'll see...

You do??? That is so funny because I keep getting a message that it does not exist! I know its a teeny tiny blog and mostly ramblings of my own head but it is nice to get them out of the way so I can move on.
Thank you for the kind words earlier!

It really does look great! It can take a lot of courage to make your blog public for the exact reasons Jenn mentioned. I will tell you...it's been better for me to know that my blog doesn't have a great deal of traffic. In the beginning, I thought that's what really mattered. I even shut it down thinking no one really cared. That took the pressure off to write something so interesting that people would come (it would never happen because I don't have that skill)...I write about what I want. Friends come, but I have one important faithful visitor...my husband.
BTW, I usually visit everyone's blog if it's listed at the bottom of their signature. I just have to click in for a brief moment. I admit that I rarely leave comments...unless it's a child's birthday. Who doesn't love to read a comment that simply says, Happy Birthday!

Yep, I see it too and it looks great ... have you rebooted since you changed the settings? Sometimes a previous setting is still in the computer until you physically close it by rebooting .....
