Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am sure many of you were on the Cathswap yahoo list. What do you think of it moving to a forum? I am really disappointed. I liked having the digest come to my inbox for me to scroll through quickly. I don't see myself as likely to log in to the forum and go through each topic looking for sales and WTB posts that might interest me.

Is there any other Catholic list for selling items out there? I post in the Trading Post sometimes, but we don't have the volume of Cathswap.

Who wants to start a new list?

I am SO frustrated!! I had two groupings of three posts each sent back to me because I sent them in on the last day.
I understand the switch, but it is very frustrating. it WAS quick moving to just get the emails in your inbox. I sold almost anything I ever listed in 24 hours or less!
maybe more of us will frequent this list? we DO have about 1500 members here, right??
there is a cath CM TWTM swap on yahoo, but it is smaller.

Yes, I saw the change, and I really don't like it. While all the categories make sense, I find I'm not only looking for "graded" materials, so if something else interests me outside of pre-K-2nd grade, I don't know where to look and I don't have time to scroll through. Where do I find art and music and science that isn't "graded"?

And the divisions of the discussion list is hard to comprehend because it's so opposite from this board. Instead of discussing a subject and how it is approached through different approaches or curricula, the breakdown is by curricula, and I don't think like that at all! I can see wanting support about particular curricula, but...

sigh, I agree!!!

It's a LOT more work and time for the seller too.
You used to just be able to list what you had in one post, now you have to divide your stuff into categories and hope the buyer looks in the right category. A real pain.

It looks like we're not alone in this opinion either. The volume of traffic nearly came to a complete halt over on the boards. Eso compared to the number of posts the yahoo groups used to get.

Now, I actually prefer a message boad over email. I strongly dislike email groups and tend to rarely use them. I just think the cathswap board could be better streamlined. It seems they went a bit over board in category creatinns. A simple WTB, FS, and Curriculum discussion sections would have sufficed, imho.

The Trading Post in this board has the nice option of subscribing to emails, so you can just ignore and delete the posts you're not interested in, if you like the email format. We do have a large registered numbers here, over 1000, but it tends to flux and flo, just the same as Cathswap. Lots of registered members, but are they on all the time? I visited rarely in the past year or so, because I always ended up spending money.

That would be nice if CathSwap added the email option, but I know it takes a lot of server space.

There is a new yahoo group that has been started because many people don't like the new forum. Try this.

There's more than one list, it looks like. There is also:

chsswap

I found out about it from the Catholic Homeschool Support page.

Did you see the news? After a year trying a forum format, Cathswap is moving back to yahoo groups!

I so liked the Yahoo group better! Too many categories and posting difficulties for me in the forum format. I'm happy with the change (or change back, I should say)

God bless,
Christine

I guess I am the only one that enjoyed the heaven forum. It was organized and simple to me. If I needed a book I would do a search and it would pop up who was selling it. The person's info was very convinient as well. Now I feel as though I have to weed through the different threads, and some are not updated at times.
Both times of the change I had books listed and once again I have to repost them because they got deleted by the move.
LOL I see that I am a lonesome sad to see heaven forum gone and not too happy with the move user.

YES! Thrilled! And the volume is already much more than it was on the heaven forums. I really prefer message boards, but CathSwap is probably the only eloop I've ever really really missed.

I liked it, but I couldn't remember to go there! I like the emails because it just takes a minute to scroll through the digest. It does encourage me to buy something I may not need at the time, but it's a good deal.
