Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just did I need to simplify and become more modest. I had too much clothes that was imodest and I don't wear and I was not getting rid of either till now. I feel so good I always kept telling myself 'well when I loose all the baby weight they wont be so tight and it will fit modestly' ya right .
I needed to keep a few things that were essential, but everything else went out and will be donated. It feels so good to purge.

Doesn't it?

Good for you! Curious to know how much you have left and how that's working for you (I guess you won't know for awhile!) - I'm always wondering how little we can get away with.

I just packed up 3 bags of clothes for Goodwill. It feels *so* great to simplify my closet! Now on to my daughter's closet. Let's just say her shopaholic grandmother and I do *not* have the same taste in girl's clothing    LOL!

You know I never really wore it and it was just there bothering me.

I used to work in a salon and had to be trendy, the bosses would get on you if you didn't. They said we had to look the part. I did but wasn't too flashy either. No more, I want to be low key and dress my age 31. I just want to focus on my dh and kids, this what I feel the Holy Spirit prompting me to do. I am slowly weaning myself of myself if that makes sense. Although I only have a few things left I am ok with it.

Oh, me too! I really would like to have so few clothes (while I was pregnant, I needed plus size maternity clothes - which were SO hard to find. I think I had a total of five outfits that fit me. My closet space was empty, and it was SO simple to choose, there just wasn't that many choices. And, secretly, I loved it!

Now I am back to having a full closet, and so does everyone else, and I am ALWAYS behind on laundry. In fact, I am not sure what "caught up on the laundry" even looks like, as even if I do it all, a few hours later I will need to do more, because they all insist on continuing to wear clothes

It does feel good to purge stuff, accept for the baby clothes because that time is probably over.    I know I have said that recently; it is just so hard for me to cope with. I have all of my baby stuff ready for Goodwill (and have for a month) but I don't have the heart to take it. DH will have to do it.

Yes, that is not a fun feeling.

As we packed and moved to NV, I got rid of all our baby stuff...except, I kept our small, wooden little crib, and our good stroller. I just couldn't get rid of them. I tried. But I got a lump in my throat and my chest all tightened every time I tried to.

I did this recently too! I finally looked at all of the clothes that were packed into my closet and said, "Even if I ever get down to this itty bitty size again, would I seriously want to wear a shirt that says, "I'm a Rock Star" in silvery rhinestone things." Uh...I can say a definite, "NO!" on that one.

The rest of my late teen, early twenty wardrobe got the same "No!" and I am left with very little. But it's all I wore anyway.

It feels good.

I have very few clothes. Three skirts, 8 tops, two pairs of pjs, 4 pairs of underwear for the lower half, two underwear for the upper half, some socks. A couple of cardies for the winter (basically I wear the same clothes year round, adding a cardigan in the winter, and getting a little hot in the summer and taking a couple of tops that are warmer out of the rotation. It's very simple. Actually, I could have less, but the children are very "grabby" and I have to change tops daily as they get dirty from the children.

Wow! I am in awe.

But really - only 4 for "lower half" underwear? Seriously? I can go through 4 during one day of my monthly cycle, when it is bad (like the first two days of it.)

I have a lot of solid color tops--a few pull overs, but mostly buttondowns. I do have a lot of skirts. Given the work I do outside (a big garden, LOTS of chickens and ducks and geese, the dog, and five dc)..plus skirts/dresses to wear to Mass, I need LOTS of skirts and tops...I probably need to weed thru a bit (I did get rid of ALOT before we moved...). But I have gotten rid of alot of shoes.

But I have pretty much got what I need. Which is good.

I do need to go buy some more underwear, though. Walmart, next time I have some free spending money...

Laura, I don't menstruate, so that's not an issue for me. If it was 4 pairs wouldn't do, I suppose. I just didn't have the money to buy more than 4 pairs of good ones, and didn't want to go the route of cheap ones that fall apart and fall down again! So 4 sloggis works for me :o)

Okay! I'm goin' in! I have a huge clothes closet I've been battling for years and I am at the point where I am so SICK of THINGS. They suck way too much time out of me, so. I've been purging toys, now for the clothes!

Thanks for the motivation!

LOL--Laura, I wondered that same thing myself! Esp those initial post-partum cycles...UGH!

But that makes sense, Lucy, if you don't sometimes need waaaay more than 4, to only have that many.

I am in the midst of trying (and at least somewhat succeeding) to lose weight, and hope to be back in the smaller (nicer) undies I have from just after I had Sophie. I couldn't bear to get rid of them--still in good shape, and too nice to just throw out...but I need to lose some of this mass I've accumulated since I had her and the boys...

Rachel
