congrats!! my almost 9 y/o ds is pitching for the first time this season. he loves it!! he is a lefty and also bats either way. baseball is SO fun!! although this same ds plays ALOT of soccer and I'm kinda spoiled by those quick games!! 
I'm assuming your season starts up alot earlier than ours? we start practices in April, games in may...
