Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We went today - and it was awesome. I needed to find somewhere that was not too far from me - and through discussion with Elizabeth found somewhere that Mary Chris had been last week. It is a really secluded little family owned vineyard and pyo blueberries - so peaceful and pretty. The owners are very kind people. For the locals - it is called Eagletree Farm and Vineyard - and is just outside Leesburg. I have pictures on my blog.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Marilyn. It really is a sweet place. Now I just have to finish quick freezing my berries.

How much did you pick? We picked 5lbs - but I think we will be eating them all up. Tomorrow we are making lemon cake - cutting it into cubes - serving in crystal bowls with strawberries and blueberries, melting vanilla icecream and drizzling over - yum yumThank you for finding the place Mary Chris. It did make me want to move out there though - but as my dh commented on my blog, he is not on the same page! I guess I have to start working on him about the move to SR!!!

Is this optimal picking time?

Back again with more questions. Is there a good quantity to pick that won't frustrate a little guy?

And how do you quick freeze?

We picked about 10 pounds .

To quick freeze them, I put them on a rimmed cookie sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes, then poured them into a ziploc bag.

Marilyn your lemon cake idea sounds really yummy, I may have to try that also.

Jenn, this is the right time for blueberries, I think it is the beginning of the season for our area. I would just pick until he gets bored. I lasted longer than my kids . You can always pick up more berries at the farmers market or even Costco.
