Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am trying to find WASHABLE blue blazers/jackets for my almost 9 year old twins to wear with chinos/khakis for Mass/dressy occasions. The only ones I have seen (Lands End and Penneys) are dry clean only.

They presently have really smart ones that my mil bought in England - they have worn these for 4 years! for baptisms/First Communion/weddings/Christmas/Easter etc - and they still look new and will be passed down to the two younger boys!!

Thanks for any help.

I'm all ears!

If no one has any ideas Marilyn, can we find out where in England your MIL bought your boy's blazers? A brand name maybe? If they're not too bad $$ price-wise, I'd pay overseas shipping.

I always just wash them with a little woolite, in cold on gentle, I've done it for years and they've held up fine, and most of our blue blazers are hand me downs/thrift store/burlington coat factory inexpensive ones...
actually, I woolite/gentle cold wash everything I have that says dry clean (not much!) but it has always turned out fine...

Really? I thought about doing this, but I was afraid it would mess up the shape of the jacket. It would be difficult to iron it properly with the shoulders. Did they come out ok, Lisa? I do wash in cold everything else that is supposed to be dry cleaned - I don't know why I thought I couldn't gently cold wash the blazers for the boys. Hmmmm....

Same hear about the washing. I really don't go to the cleaners so that's the only option. I rarely have to wash them. Using the gentle cycle & hanging to dry should do the trick.

Kohl's is where I buy dress clothes like suits/jackets/slacks for my ds.
I think the jackets/slacks are made by Arrow and they are machine washable.

I have called my mil - I think they were Marks and Spencer - she is out again in September and I have asked her to look. Let me know what size you are looking for Jennifer.

Here are Kohl's offerings:

dressy apparel for boys at kohl's they're on sale now buy 1 get 1 at 1/2 off

we got ours here when we still lived in PA and they were on sale when we got them.

and here are Marks and Spencer's -- i never knew they were cheaper than here (at least at regular price) -- would have gotten some in london if we had known!!
