Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

All I have to say is, "Where has this been all my life!??!!"

Dh and I have been looking to make the switch for about a couple of years now. Ready to make our purchase, Saturday dh and I went to the Apple store, sat with a 'personal shopper' for an hour and a half and came out with the most smokin' computer I've ever laid hands on. Kids have already composed songs in garage band with dh.

I'm still riding the Mac high today... can't wait to see what all this baby can do for us..

Anyone care to share some unique features they enjoy with their Macs?

Oh, and by the way.. my homeschooler discount beat the government discount my dh gets

Congrats!    Truly, there is nothing like a Mac!

Features? For me, the complete ease of using a computer. So, so user-friendly.

Oh, me too! We have had ours for about a week now and I am thinking of running away to Tahiti with it! I have yet to let anyone else touch it and I am spending waaaaaay too much time with it.

I just discovered the iphoto feature last night when I downloaded pics from my cell phone using the bluetooth feature (how cool is that!!!). Did you know you can make books with your photos and then order them from apple? not to mention the calendar and greeting card makers! Can you say "Merry Christmas"?

My husband fought this tooth and nail, being a PC kinda guy (it's alright, it doesn't effect our marriage as much as you would think!). But I finally convinced him that it is MY computer, not his and that he doesn't even have to look at it if it offends him! I caught him in my office last night, totally into the Mac!

Blessings,
Betsie

I have to ask, what's so great about it? My dh is adamently a microsoft, pc guy. I don't "do" computers like he does, so I am pretty clueless.

So, fill me in!

We love the neat things you can do with the camera (we don't have one but my mil does). ALl the stretching and light tunnel stuff etc. My kids spent hours at this when we went out west for Christmas.

LOL!! Photo booth (built in camera) was one of the first things the kids played with. It is hilarious!

Molly, I'll have to get back with you on all the great stuff... there's almost too much to list. You and Court just need to come on over for a test drive..

Can I bring my Mac down so you can teach me how to use it?

Speaking of familiarizing yourself with your Mac, if I we weren't moving, I'd do those One on One tutorial packages that they offer in the store. It's $99 and you can go once a week (1 hr) for a year to meet with an individual to learn anything you choose and go as in depth as you like. Well worth it in my opinion. Our personal shopper fella, Andrew, was telling us about the high speed tutors that they have available. I'd like to pursue doing a lot with photography, so I think these sessions would really be beneficial. Dh likes playing with GarageBand and would love to know how to do more with that..

We'll have to look and see if there is a store near our next duty station. I do think though that they have some pretty high speed quality folks here at this store simply because it's the DC area.

Use your educator discount if you get the One on One! You can use it for the computer and the One on One tutorial program. You need some kind of proof that you are an homeschooler -- mine was an ID from Clonlara -- voila! Savings!!

We were all set to use dh's gov. discount when I asked about the home educator one. (I remember hearing about it here ) If we'd have gone with just the computer, the military (federal employee) discount would have been $11 more than the educator one. However, we purchased Apple Care, and the educator discount was better for the two combined. I saved an extra $40 over dh's discount. Now anytime we buy anything else (looking at iwork), we'll compare discounts to see which is best.

When we got ours the educator's discouny was better than the military one. Glad to know you can use the ed discount on the One to One classes. I do plan on taking them........sometime. Actually there is now a Apple store at the mall closest to us, so maybe it will be sooner rather than later.

Here is the main feature about it that we love....

IT IS NOT A PC, NO MICROSOFT ANYWHERE!!!!

We are not at all Bill Gates fans, and we try as hard as we can not to give him our money (I know, he's not missing it ) But still...

And here's a little trivia thing...if you watch enough tv and movies (okay, I'm a bit of a closet junkie here!) you'll notice that probably 99% of all computers in these films, are Macs...says something to me.

The only bummer thing...and this is a personal fact...never knew I could get a homeschool discount with it ARGHHHH

So none of those points were features...just why we love it! Oh...and it never breaks down and installs it all quickly and hey, you turned it on out of the box and worked right away didn't it??? Always a plus!
