Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi, I posted this in the wrong forum so am reposting here
We're leaving on a much-anticipated trip to Quebec City in less than a month (May 31- June 7th). This is their 400th anniversary year!
We have a Frommer's Guide, but I was wondering if any of you have visited Quebec and have any tips or ideas on what to see and do. We will be going through Montreal as well (to see St. Joseph's Oratory), but spending most of our time in & around Quebec City.
Our daughter Mary, who speaks French well and is not shy about it will be our interpreter, so there won't be a language issue even if we leave the "beaten paths" on anyone's recommendation.
Thanks so much and God bless you all,
~Sue

Sue, I still remember visiting St. Joseph's Oratory when I was 7. The Basilica of St. Anne de Beaupre is a must. I saw part of St. Anne's incorrupt arm at the basilica.

I still have blessed oil from St. Joseph's Oratory.

Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha fled to Quebec and a friend told me that her family visited where she had been when they went to Quebec.

Montmorency Falls are also worth visiting. If I remember correctly, it was the bridge across the river here that I found a little scary to cross, but it stays in my memory as really exciting. Most people would probably remember the Falls more than the bridge.

I miss you! I pray that you and your family have a wonderful time in Quebec.

The Ursuline Convent in Quebec City is very interesting. It is small. In the convent chapel is the sarcophagus containing the remains of Blessed Marie de l'Incarnation. Also we attended Sunday Mass at the Cathedral in QC, they had an all male Gregorian Chant choir that was lovely.

Peace,
Nancy

I love Quebec! My maternal grandparents are both from Loretteville (very close by). My grandmother grew up on an Indian reservation there. (It wasn't called Native American lol)

Just 20-30 minutes outside Quebec City is

The Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre
(I would think it would be in your guide.)

Also I always enjoyed the Montmorency Falls

Thanks for all your recommendations (and the link, Jen).
The cathedral sounds lovely! I think this trip really will turn out to be a pilgrimage in a lot of ways. The city is even hosting the annual Eucharistic Congress while we're there.

The kids and I are now reading "Madeleine Takes Command" in anticipation, and I got Willa Cather's "Shadows on the Rock" for the long drive up.

We're quite excited to see a real "European" city after living in strip-mall mania all these years
Blessings,
