How are you going to be using your "extra" money that Uncle Sam is giving back?
I have such a long list of things I want....a new love seat for the sunroom and some new clothes....
I bought some new curric for next year, we will get a Wii, if we can find one, and then there is all the flowers I have to buy to fill my dirt. Hopefully some will be saved or at least put toward some of our credit card debt.
Care to share how you are using it?

neither
we have got to pay some debt off if at all possible
I doubt we'll have enough left over to do anything else at all.
If by some miracle we do, it's going to have to go to some dr appts and home/vehicle repairs.

Ours is going to a new roof--not fun or exciting at all--but I am very thankful for it!

We tend to be savers here, although with five kids and two bedrooms... I'm sure we'll use some of it to start working on finishing our basement.

We're going to have the great room painted by someone who owns and knows how to use the necessary scaffodling.

My new dental crown
Any leftovers - the 3 older kids are going to Orchestra Camp.
Any more leftovers - Abby wants to do a ballroom dancing camp.
..maybe the five loaves and 2 fish principle will apply here...

Hey Marilyn,
Does your daughter take lessons?
ETA: well, our van recently broke down so I'm not sure how we're gonna use our $$ - we need new furniture - dressers, couch, loveseat, chair and a new bed for our little man, here...
I'd love to save the $$ and ideally pay down our remaining credit card debt - which isn't much but I want to be debt-free!

We tend to be savers, but this year we will be spending some of our return (maybe all) on some home improvement or space-making projects.

Oh, honey, ! I had this done last year and the price was OUCH! I hate to see so much money go on a little piece of porcelain.
We forgot about this money so I haven't spoken to dh about it. Not sure yet what we'll do with it but there are several options:
* pay off dh's boat
* put towards graduation party or new laptop for graduate dd
* payoff vehicle gas bill
* buy the children a much desired Wii and splurge the rest (though I doubt my dh will allow this )
* put in savings for a rainy day (yeah, right! more like put it in savings and watch it gradually seep through the gas tank )

Right now I'd like to pay for a week long silent retreat somewhere. Anywhere.
Seriously though, we'll most likely put it in savings. Trying to save up for a bigger house. One with closets.

We will probably use it to buy some curriculum, pay off debt, and pad the bank account to pay for gas in the upcoming months!
Nothing fun or frivolous.

To savings...we don't have any car payments, and they are getting old and full of mileage and dh said it's time to start that early saving to buy something in the future...way future, but this will be a nice bump to it.

replacing (some of) the circa 1986 carpet that is prevalent in our home , replacing the circa 1986 dishwasher that finally died, maybe squeezing out a new fridge that is larger than the (again, circa 1986) 20 cu ft fridge. seems like everything is falling apart at once. (we really should be putting in a dewatering system in the basement, but we LIVE on the other floors, kwim?)
and the roof was paid off with the tax return...
btw, did you know that running an extra fridge runs on average 200.00 per year?? so, that 2nd fridge in the basement/garage is never going to be an option for us
I actually know it is going to be a very LEAN year curricula wise

We're seriously thinking about putting it toward wood floors. Our old beige carpet looks awful. Just not sure where the rest of the money for that will come from . . . .
But after some conversations about the rising prices of food based on the cover story of The Washington Post yesterday, I'm thinking it might be smarter to save it to be sure we can afford gas and food each month if things get much worse.

Fixing the house up to sell. I think we'll use it to refinish the deck and put a new vanity in the master bath, plus hire painters to touch up ...
