Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Pretty good homeschool group    - a few other board members are here. (East side of the valley...) I think it stinks that you might come here and now I am moving .

Also a group on the West Side, and one to the North too, I think, but not nearly as active as the East Side group.

Homeschooling is easy-peasy. You send in an affidavit one time to the county saying you homeschool. That's it. No testing, no nothing else. LOTS of homeschoolers here. LOTS.

Lots of parish choices - TLM in a few different parishes, Byzantine, etc. Good Bishop.

ETA: to take out names of people here as I realized I shouldn't have just shared that w/o checking first and I am so sorry.

I'm in Mesa (east of Phoenix).

As Laura said, homeschooling is easy in regards to the state requirements. The local Catholic homeschooling group is active and full of nice people.

Many museums do specific things for homeschoolers -- places like the Arizona Science Center, Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Desert Botanical Gardens. There's tons to do in the area and lots to see.

metro Phoenix is a very large area. I live almost as far east as possible, and it's a good 60-70 miles to the far west side of the valley.   When we first moved here, we lived more central Phoenix, and then moved to the east valley. I really like the east valley, but I'm sure people who live in the west valley really like it there, too (LOL)

Let me know if you have any other questions. We moved here from Milwaukee and while the first year or so were difficult (changes/homesick), I love living here. When we had the possibility of moving back to the midwest after Colin was born, we ultimately chose to stay in AZ. We've been here since 1999.

I just heard from someone we know who lives part time in Phoenix and part time here in OR that the Phoenix diocese is moving First Reconciliation after First Communion?

oh wow. I'd move for that alone!

it may turn out to be nothing at all.
it's just an interview so we'll have to see how things go...

then there's the whole housing market thing to contend with...

We just moved to this huge house a year ago after living in a very small home. I'd hate to have to wait another 15 years to get a home like this, but if it's what dh needs to do then I'm willing.
