Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For those of you near Bull Run - are the bluebells out yet? Please keep us updated - we would love to meet up with anyone who is going.

Yes, please, do tell! I've never seen a bluebell in real life!

They peak this weekend and should be good for about 2 weeks after.

We went late yesterday evening - on the way back from friends. It was cold and rainy - but still beautiful - I would love to go again when it is warmer.

We were up there for a visit last week. So bummed that they weren't really ready yet.

Yes!! We were there yesterday, and I just changed my blog header to a picture of it!

(sorry if this looks a little familiar-- Elizabeth was on to someting!!)

This was our first time going and I'd love to bring the kids back. We went on a whim and I was so surprised. They're beautiful!

We were there Tuesday and we're going back today and tomorrow. Tuesday was chilly but the weather is steadily improving. The flowers are definitely at their peak.

Where is the best place to go? Can you just walk around anywhere in the park? We've only driven through.

Drive right through towards the camping ground. You will see signs for the bluebells. There is a parking lot marked "bluebell parking" (right near the swimming pool) - cross over the road (you will see a little footbridge) and the bluebell trail starts there. There are blue markings on the trees for the trail.

Take boots - it can be very muddy - and if it is hot your kids can wade in the creek.

The trail is not easy on strollers.

We may go tomorrow morning again as the weather will be lovely.

We're thinking about going today...

...if I get brave enough. Mud, 5 boys (6 & under) , a creek, no Daddy...

I'm such a wimp! But the weather is beautiful and so are the bluebells..

You are a wimp! I'm on my way out the door and promise you two teenaged boys and a doting 11yo girl. We'll see you there

ACK! We're about an hour away and I won't be able to get out there until the 22nd. How long are the bluebells out?

Amy -- I don't know! But I think it's worth a shot!

Thank goodness -- we never would have got past all those crates on our way in without them!!

And... msclavel and Mary Chris' kids helped us out!!

It was fun to see you guys... and KackyK, and AnneMcD, and Katherine and more friends on such a beautiful beautiful beautiful day.

And...I asked Mary Chris and then Elizabeth if their kids would help keep my kids out of the mud. And they both said absolutely not! And agreed that kids would help entice them in the mud. They kept their word.

We just got out of the bath tub... I could have sworn the bottom of my tub was white and not tan.

BTW - check for ticks. I had one on me. I think the kids were too muddy for the ticks to find a spot on them.

I just got all our kids out of the tub, too!

And you're right about the ticks-- I found one on my arm not long after we got there, even with bug spray

It was a beautiful day, and was so nice to see and meet everyone.

I do believe they saw it as a challenge and quite outdid themselves. I'm still laughing over Michael's wipeout in pursuit of Paddy.
I felt badly sending you home with all five muddy men. Someone should have volunteered to help you with bathtime...
We went from the park to soccer practice. My children will all sleep well tonight.

I am a little green too!! We had hoped to go, but with our crazy sports schedule this weekend, today was the day to do all our weekend chores - so bathrooms were cleaned, several lots of laundry done and put away, all winter closets switched to summer stuff, grocery lists made.... etc etc...Where is the "totally exhausted" icon!!!

It sounds like you had a lot of fun.

Me too! Furthermore I was amazed by Paddy's persuasive abilities to 1) turn the wipeout into a "baseball sliding event" instead of a traumatic mudslide and 2) coax Michael to the creek for a washing. He must have experience dealing with ornery 3 year olds.

And believe me -- we're no stranger to cleaning up muddy clothes and bodies out here in hickville ... we just usually don't do it in public!

Thanks so much for the tips! We went on Saturday. The flowers are absolutely beautiful! They definitely compare to the blue bonnets of Texas! We posted a few pictures at our blog.
Thanks again!
