Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

You ladies might remember some of the controversy last year about the anti-Catholic blogger winning a Homeschool Blog Award and now being linked to the front page of the Homeschool Blog Awards site. The name of the offensive blog is Welcome to Keeping the Home.   Today that blooger has a very offensive post calledThe Whore of Babylon

I am being very proactive in this and I would invite you to join me as you have time and interest. First of all leave a message with the Homeschool Blog Awards. You'll see my message there now.

Also, write or call the Catholic League
450 Seventh Avenue
New York, NY 10123
(212) 371-3191

The more calls they get the more they may be willing to comment on this. I called this morning.

Homeschooling is hard enough without hate and division amongst us. The Homeschool Blog Awards needs to be aware of how offensive and hurtful this is and take down their link.

For further information, feel free to visit my apologetics blog at Visits to Candyland

O my goodness Elena - I was horrified to read the post. Dreadful and offensive. Thanks for calling attention to this.

So sad. It amazes me how un-Christian some Christians can be.

Her blog doesn't seem to have a place to comment or contact her. I also couldn't find your comments or any place to comment on the HSBlogger site.

She was also linked to from the LAF A Week in Dresses site. I wrote a letter and received a graciously horrified reply. It took them awhile, but now her link seems broken. They still have her listed but not linked (as of today).

Thanks for the heads up. I actually had her site bookmarked for her sour dough bread recipe, and I had never looked around on the blog enough and wasn't really interested in her views on religion enough to bother reading those posts. I had know idea she was so vehemently anti-catholic, and I am glad to know not to give her blog any extra traffic, etc...

Wow, how awful, the whore of Babylon is waaay more offensive than "tsk, tsk, those poor misguided Catholics" sentiments as expressed by other non-Catholic Christians.

I'm not Catholic (we're Anglican) but I'm so offended by this. I imagine you ladies have to put up with this a lot, and I'm very sorry for that! :( Yuck!

I did contact the Homeschool Blog Awards website. I received an email from them that they found nothing wrong with her blog posts.

Yes I got it today, and of course I deleted it without thinking. Sorry!

When I was tweaking my household notebook, I did a quick google blog search to get more ideas. I was really shocked at how many protestant homemaking sites are linked to hers. I wonder if they really feel this way or if they just have never read that part?

hmm...
Maybe there are more worthy homeschool blog awards elsewhere?

It's really just a populatiry contest anyways isn't it?
I think the ladies here can find much nicer populations to gain awards from.

If they actually think there is nothing wrong with her hateful speech, then I wouldn't want anything on my blog to suggest they are worth get an award from.

Urgh! Candy has to be the most opinonated woman I have ever "met". I keep praying for her on the basis that if she has to fight so hard and tell such lies and make such ridiculous inferences about the Faith then maybe she is struggling with an attraction to the true Church of Christ but can't cope. It would all be funny (insult to the Lord apart - but honestly those pinecones and the fish god hat thing!) if only so many people didn't for some bizarre reason see her a fount of all wisdom.

I've been going to Visits to Candyland a lot lately. Elena's fellow contributor Kelly was my college roommate, and she's the one that led me to this forum (and breastfeeding...and being a stay-at-home mom...and homeschooling...and cloth diapering...and NFP).

And Loren, the whole reason that Elena created Visits to Candyland is because Candy will not approve any comment that she does not personally agree with.

Keep up the good work, Elena.

Elena, your work on keeping us informed of this is wonderful.

I've added a "Please Pray" on my blog sidebar asking my readers to pray for Candy's conversion; underneath it I'm asking my readers to boycott the Homeschool Blog awards.

Again, thanks for all you do!
