In the past few months, my husband has come home with news of people who work for him in the hospital.
Yesterday, he told me about one man who left work and was admitted in the ER for tingling in his arms. Today he took another man to the ER who was complaining of chest pains. ...then, he took some time to visit the first man who is in the same hospital.
What I want to do is make baskets or bags with items that my husband could take. However, my husband said they are happy with a visit, rest, and the tv in the room.
I don't know. I feel led to make a "care" basket or bag.
Any ideas on what would be appreciated by guys? or just let it be? I'd appreciate any thoughts you are willing to share.

Socks, magazines, maybe some crossword puzzles?

We just had the older kids in our homeschool group make blankets for people in the hospital that we know of. They just used 2 pieces of fleece and tied them together (if you don't know what I'm talking about I'll describe it better, but they are pretty common). They made 2 large ones for adults and 2 small ones for babies. We then took them to Children's Adoration and layed them in front of the altar while we were there and then had the priest bless them before they were taken to those in the hospital. We told them they were blessed and called them prayer blankets. They were well received. We thought of sewing a pocket to the outside of them and putting things like a rosary, prayer cards etc. in the pocket, but we didn't get that far.
The adults receiving them were men. The fleece we purchased was sort of a woodsy, outdoorsy print - masculine.
The blankets for the children were really cute too!

That's a tough one because if they have heart issues they will be on a restricted diet,so baked goods and chocolate are probably out. Perhaps magazines, a phone card, fruit might be ok.

A friend told me the best thing she had when her dd was in the hospital was a stack of Post-It Notes. She could write down quick notes to remind her what to ask when the doctor came in.
Phone cards are good for keeping in touch with friends and family out of the area.
A homemade card. Even a picture your children drew. I think they will appreciate any thing you do for them.

DH called this morning, and ANOTHER guy has left to the ER because of chest pains. That's the third just this week.
I appreciate your suggestions. There are several I wouldn't have come up with, but I think would be appreciated.

I'm thinking this sounds like a dangerous place to be working. Praying these men all recover well and especially for your DH to remain healthy!!
