I've finally decided that I'll be giving up coffee for Lent. You need to understand that I LOVE coffee. Even the smell of it makes my heart happy. I actually think this will be harder than the other idea I was considering - which was giving up the internet! I like my coffee strong and bold so I'd like to find a very bold tea to drink on these chilly Virginia mornings. What would you suggest? Thank you!

Trader Joe's Irish Breakfast. Maybe any Irish Breafast would do.

Lady Grey-- it doesn't have the same "oily" feel as Earl Grey, but it has a strong flavor. That and Constant Comment.

I find that English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast are both 'strong' teas (our choice is pretty much Twinings locally).
Also, Russian Caravan, although less so than the other two.
But English Breakfast is my preferred morning tea:-) I don't function particularly well until I've had my cup:-)

I just tried a new tea, for me, last month called MORNING THUNDER by Celestial Seasonings.....it is really good! And bold. I think it would be a good tea to "replace" coffee. I hoarded the whole box.
I love Irish breakfast by Twinnings.........but I have found Celtic Breakfast by Choice, to be a very rich and robust tea, much more than any Irish or English breakfast.
Add in Stash's Chai Spice, also an excellent tea.........and you now have all of my morning favorites.

I'm a Twinings Irish Breakfast fan but I'm going to try some of the others mentioned above! "Morning Thunder" sounds like just the kick I need

PG Tips, my favorite and holds up to milk. I buy mine online.
And although pretty common, I have always liked Red Rose that they sell in Canada. My mother in law would always buy a bunch at a grocery store when she went over the border (they lived near Buffalo). It is very different than the US version--it tastes brighter and stronger and iced it is much better.

My favorite is Lapsang Souchon. It's robust and smoky-tasting. Twinings offers it in both bagged and loose varieties.

Celestial Seasoning's Roastaroma is a strong flavored, herbal tea that reminds me much of coffee.

I'm a Stash's Spice Chai girl myself, but do also like a good Irish Breakfast--Twinings is my go-to brand.

I like Barry's Irish Tea (from Ireland).
I recently bought Trader Joe's decaf Irish breakfast and I need to use two tea bags in my cup to make it strong enough. Maybe the decaf version is less strong?

Can you get PG Tips where you are? It's dark and bold. We're so spoiled - can't drink anything else!

another vote for Stash Spice Chai, I actually vote for any black Chai, but since I'm from Portland originally, I "grew up" on STASH teas!
I think Chai is an especially good tea if you are used to a bit of sugar and cream in your coffee

My dh loves PG Tips and so do I. I actually saw PG Tips at our local Mexican market this week-end!
I always see it at World Market , too, if you have one near you...Though, I have found that you need to watch their imported goods for dates--I once bought some reeeaaaallly old Cadbury Flake bars there;I was so sad! After that near tragic experience, I check dates on their foods and have noticed that sometimes the dates are either expired or about to expire...
