Wow! Today our two oldest and I went to our first March for Life. What an amazing experience! I am so inspired by all of you who travel so far to come and share your voice. How lucky we are to live in a country where we can walk up to the steps of the Supreme Court building and let them know how we feel.
I am so proud of my ds10, he truly showed his true colors today. As we were approaching the Supreme Court some folks in our party were heading off to Union Station to wait for the rest of the group, Carter said, "It is kinda silly to walk all this way and not go to the end!" He and I went to the steps of the Supreme Court, he found a sign lying on the ground and held it up high.
What hope for our country seeing all the youth out today.
Although it was cold, it was not near as bad as they had predicted yesterday. And as we were driving out of the city we saw a rainbow over the Washington Monument. An awesome reminder of Gods promise.

Thank you for sharing this. We weren't able to go this year and watched bits of it on EWTN.

That's great Mary Chris! Dan and the "older" boys were going to go... and Philip and I were going to stay home. But then a friend called to tell him it was raining on the Mall, so he decided that his prolife activity was to pray at home with me and little Philip... and keep the little boys dry. I think it's the first year that he's missed it.
As a kid, my Mom would take us by chartered bus from CT with other prolifers. We'd leave at 11:00 pm; sleep on the bus; attend Mass at the Shrine; go visit our Senator/Rep. and then attend the March! I haven't been able to go since I've been married due to kid sickness, newborn, or morning sickness!

We were at the March yesterday and it was great. A bit chilly, but great. This is the first year we were able to go and take the whole family and everyone did very well. A few of the boys found signs and carried them the whole way-- what a great experience. We'll be moving out of the area this summer, so we were glad to be able to take part in this event.
It was lagniappe at the end to see the full rainbow over the sun lit Capitol; and a great way to end the day.

We almost stayed home, too, but it stopped raining by the time we got to the Mall. We've been every year, but this might have been our last. So inspiring. We are good friends with a priest who used to work at the National Shrine and he called the March the "Catholic Superbowl." We're always amazed how many people we run into: this year we saw the priest who married us (who lives in RI!)

LOL, Love this! It was really wonderful seeing so many Catholics in one area. Oh, and hearing The Divine Mercy Prayer (in song) played over the loud speaker at the beginning of the March.

Mary Chris -- your post brought back such fond memories of when we went up from Raleigh in 2000 -- it was Bush's inauguration and the March weekend and it was cold and mucky and snowy as only DC can get ... but what a wonderful, beautiful event to take the kids to! And the cool thing, like you and your rainbow, is just as we got to the Steps, the sun burst through and it was a glorious DC winter afternoon!

Hey, Mary Chris and all,
Check out this YouTube video from the March for Life! For those who were not at the March, you can see the rainbow that Mary Chris mentioned at the end of the video.
At one point you can see our group under the St. Veronica parish sign. You can make out the back of me (in the red hat), my oldest dd, and Mary Chris's dd. (What I think is wild is that by listening carefully, we were able to hear my voice calling the names of my oldest two daughters!)
And Janette and Tim, the video is made by our common friend! I had no idea David's group was walking so close to us that day.

My son went with our youth group. I didn't make him go, he asked to go. I was SO proud of him! He is 14.
I was out and about that day, and I told everyone I knew where he was, lol. The lady at the McDonald's window mentioned she was cold, so I said, My son is cold, too, he's at the March for Life today! I couldn't go, but I spread the word, lol. We were in a few different stores, too. Noone but my mother (very liberal, not Catholic) reacted negatively. I asked her if she could respect him for having strong convictions, even if she disagreed, and she said she could.
Thank you to all who marched for life!!
In Christ,
Leocea

Well I watched it all on EWTN over here and I am SO IN AWE of Americans! You just would never hear speeches like that in Aus, politicians would NEVER speak like that and the ones who would want to, would be the public butt of scorn for a year to come...so sad. You are an awesome nation of people, God bless you all!

Thank you for sharing the video, it is AWESOME! We won't be able to live with dd now that the back of her head was on YouTube.
