Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would love another baby, but have had 4 sections. Do you know anyone whos had 5 or more.
One surgeon said no way and another said it wouldn't matter, but do you listen to the one who opened you up or the one that didn't.
I will be 40 this year and youngest is 9.

Hi! I think too, it depends on whether the doctor you are asking is a good pro-life doctor or not - this is a sad fact unfortunately, that so many are not and have a biased agenda - that they will falsely use information against you since they don't believe in big families...I know of a case recently where it would strongly seem that is what is happening and not just with one doctor - if the doctor is really open to big families and is pro-life then I'd be more happy to accept their medical advice, knowing it wasn't biased.

Hi!
Here's an old thread to encourage you while you wait for responses. There are defninitely moms here who have had more than four. And go visit Ouiz who had her seventh baby in October. The whole month's archive is a beautiful tribute to another c-section at 40 and a baby appropriately called Grace.

I've heard of lots (I'm on a board with mostly protestant quiverfull families).. the big danger from what I understand isn't in the having another c-section but in the placenta being more likely to attach near/on scar tissue and attaching too deeply.. I belive it's called accreta (and there's two other variations) and I know the risk goes up with each c-section. But perhaps looking that up will give you the info you need to make an informed decision about the risks.

I'm always seeing Ethel Kennedy cited as having 11 c-sections. (No, I don't have a reliable source for this.) While there are certainly risks, I can only imagine that their safety of c-sections has improved since then.

i've had five c-setions. my last two were 16 months apart. i have the blessing of a pro-life dr. who has been totally encouraging. my body has responded quite well and he has encouraged us to remain open to life. i find my recoveries pretty easy and i have had no problems. my last section was my easiest yet. i took the kids to the park six days later!

Hi, I have had 3 so far and will have my fourth in August/July. When we had the last one, the anestiologist made a comment to me, that I found very useful....he said he was amazed at how quick Dr. M was sewing me up. When I asked why that mattered, he said that it indicates that I have had minimal scar tissue and therefore future C sections wouldn't be a problem. I would ask the doctor, how scarred you are and then get your medical file and take it too a doctor for a second opinion. If you are scarred maybe the risks are severe, I don't know but when I walked into my OB 2 weeks ago, I told him not to go on vacation during my week because he was doing the next section, so I could have more.

Thanks for the kind words, Elizabeth!

Like Elizabeth mentioned, I had my seventh c-section (in 10 years) a little over 3 months ago. It has freaked my mom out every time, because, needless to say, she is worried about HER baby having so many operations. My OB, however, has assured me that there is no "limit" to how many c-sections one can have. As long as I am healing well (which, praise God, I am) and not developing massive scarring, I'm good to go!

Oh... and I was 40 when I had Grace.

Kimberly Hahn has only c-sections (I think about 8) and wrote about it in her book "Life-Giving Love" A great book, by the way...
