Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our parish has chartered a bus to get to the state capital.

I *really* want to go, but need reassurance of mommas who have been there, I guess.

How did you child handle it? I feel so anxious thinking Teresa may end up crying while we are there, or on the ride (even though she's happier with me close by). Do you take an umbrella stroller? Bags of snacks?
I need to call our parish on Monday to inquire how long to expect to be there.

I'm guessing that driving your own vehicle would be out of the question because of parking.

I have no idea what to expect.
Would you please share your experience?

Michaela -- we took our crew (of just 4 then ) up to DC for the National March back in 2001 ... Maggie was 9 months, Thomas was just 2, Catie was 9 and Joe was 11. It was a very cold, icy weekend in DC (and packed as it was also the weekend of Bush's inauguration).

The kids still talk about it! It's so well organized at the National one that we had no problems getting there, marching, or getting out (which, in DC is ALWAYS a problem ). We drove up from NC so it was a good 5 hours of driving up early Saturday morning and then coming back late on Monday evening. We got to the National Shrine for the big Mass, got in some sightseeing in DC, and just had a marvelous time with all 4 of the kids ...

Does that help? I think going on the bus with the parish is a great idea! Somehow bus travel is fun with littles becuase they have so many people they can talk to, play with or just "visit". I'm thinking you'd be more comfortable riding the bus so you can take care of Teresa easily.

Besides, it is a right to life trip -- crying by little ones SHOULD BE ok!

Michaela--

We live in DC and have gone with our kids every year. They will be one and three this year. Just bundle up, bring snacks and water and be prepared to have lots of people ogle over you! Marchers love to see kids!

I am soooo

For some reason, my mind was picturing a "rally".
The bus would drop us off in front of the capital, and we would stand on the steps to show our position for LIFE.

Well, it is called a MARCH for Life.    There is going to be MARCHING, and I doubt I could carry Teresa the entire time.

I'm so simple.

Yes, I better bring an umbrella stroller & back pack to carry our stuff.

Can you tell I've never seen one or been to one?
