Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Theresa's question on Brio and Thomas reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask here: are Megabloks compatible with Duplo? We're wondering whether we'll need to choose between the brands or whether they'll work together. (And if they aren't compatible, which would you suggest?)

Thanks!

I think they are compatible, but why would you want both? Duplo are far superior to Mega-blocks.

I married a definite Lego snob. Even the older nephews of dh all confirm that Duplo are better, and I will say, the plastic is definitely more durable.

They are somewhat compatible but are hard to use together. Personally I would just choose one!

We have both and had no problems with compatibility. I agree with Shannon and Lindsay - Lego is definitely better if you want to stick with one brand...

with either I believe the basic blocks are not made in china.. but with megablocks.. it appears that the character ones are made in china.. and lego does have some parts, motors (and soemthing else I think) made in china..

I just bought my little boys a bunch of new duplo for Christmas.. all the kids like those because you can build "big".. and with this many kids.. more of the same type is better.. it makes sharing much easier

We got our massive collection off e-bay. There are great deals that way (too good, my dh went a little nuts when he found out we'd had a son), and its not the type of thing that looks really used when it is. We've added on different sets (like Bob the Builder) as gifts to the boys.
