Has anyone been running into this? I have had several toys that I tried to purchase for my kids, either US-made or European-made, only to find that they are out of stock. Everything from Little Tikes to wooden baby toys.
I guess it is a good thing, even if it may only be a passing fad. But it sure is frustrating me! The last thing I need is to have to come up with new ideas for gifts.

Uggghhh, yes frustrating i've had the same problem.
But good in the long run, like you said.
I called Wedgits a few weeks ago to ask where they were made, as I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. After i posed the question, the woman on the other end let out a LONG sigh.....and then said, "China, but we have very strict safety standards that I can either email or fax to you." She sounded like a robot when she said it. That, along with the SIGH, means that people ARE concerned and calling.
Also, the woman who has a Polish Pottery store in our area is going gang-busters! She's had lots of new customers in the past couple of months and sales are way beyond what they were last year AFTER Christmas.
BTW, Molly.....I was relieved to find that Jobst Compression Hose are made in the USA!

I frantically finished my toy shopping (all online) this afternoon because my mom warned me this weekend that she had heard a lot of "made in the USA" toys were out of stock. There was only one toy that I couldn't order because it simply has vanished off store shelves - online and brick and mortar.
I don't think anything else was out of stock - at least not that I know of. The websites *said* everything I ordered was in stock. I think about 60-70% of my order was NOT MIC. I struggled (and ultimately failed) to find something that my 7yo boy both wanted and wasn't MIC. The one thing I was looking for, that was out of stock, was for him!
Maybe next year will be better because of the attention this has gotten???!!! I hope so! Good luck to the rest of you ordering - you better get your orders in quickly!

Oh, good grief. I was waiting to order my gifts until a horse sold, which he did yesterday. Now that I have the funds, I hope the toys are still available!

I got some things from Oompa Toys and when I looked (last week) almost everything was still in stock. On a slightly different note, my mother wanted my son to have Chutes and Ladders and I was very happy to see that it was made in the USA.

Theresa, I haven't found too many things to be out of stock except for one item from Magic Cabin that my mom ordered for my girls.

I don't know how to get the link to work, but
there are very cute german made toys from Käthe Kruse.
Our 4 year old is getting this Fingerpuppet theater from her Grandparents. They are very well made and beautiful too!
I found them on an american site too, so they are available.
