Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi,

I had no idea where to put this.

My dh just came home and said he heard on the radio, on two different stations, that Santa's - like the ones in the Malls, etc - are being told not to say, "Ho-ho-ho", but instead "Ha-ha-ha" because the former could scare children and be considered derogatory (!!!!!!!).

I said to him, are you sure this isn't a joke?

He said, it didn't sound like it was.

Does anyone know about this?

I guess I can see the derogatory thing (though I don't agree), but scary? Like I want my kids laughed at!

I read an article about this and it's in Australia. Here's a link to one of the stories

My sweetie came home and told me the same thing earlier in the week. I too thought it was a joke but apparently not.

This actually made our late-night 11pm news program. The anchor prefaced it with "I'm just going to say, this is the stupidest thing I've ever had to report on"...and then said exactly what you heard (and that it is in Australia). He said, I may get in trouble...but I don't care.

He's a rather opinionated anchorman

I'm kind of surprised this is in Australia -- it just seems so American! .

Next they'll be saying Santa's can't ring a bell as it might be too reminiscent of the sanctuary bell or worse might be construed as "ringing for the servants" .... horrors!

Does anybody else think this politically-correctness has gotten just a touch out of hand?????

It's turned into hysteria over anything remotely traditional.

Thats alright. We'll hold the line. We rebels will walk around saying 'Merry Christmas' and 'ho ho ho'.
