Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sophia Institute Press is in financial trouble. Please read this link.

They are one of the best Catholic publishers and have brought us so many fabulous books and authors, including Marigold Hunt, Caryll Houselander, St Francis deSales, Fr Lovasik, Mary Reed Newland, and St Thomas Aquinas, just to name a few.

Please consider buying books from them this Christmas. It would be too sad to see them close down. What a loss to our Catholic community!

Oh, no! They're one of my favorite publishers. I'll pass this along. Thank you for alerting us.

Good on you Molly, they produce wonderful books including the new A Year and Our Children,
St Patrick's Summerand My Path to Heaven and with every purchase of $50 or more you get free a hardback copy of O Holy NightThis beautiful hardback treasury of Christmas poetry. (Offer ends 11/16) Gathered from twenty-eight centuries, ten languages, and sixty-four authors, here is the broadest anthology of religious Christmas poetry ever collected in English.

Wasn't there another publisher in the same boat about a year ago? I remember a friend of mine mailed me a very similar link. I'm not sure if it was Sophia Institute Press or not. I guess the publishing industry is very competitive.

Sophia Institute Press has been in this situation before as well and did issue a similar plea in this past year. In fact they were not reprinting some of the books that they had sold out of. And Suzanne you are right about Tan Publishers as well. For many years they have been close to going under and issue pretty regular pleas. Catholic Answers has done the same. As Melinda said I think it is a very competivite industry and tough for the smaller publishers - one's with specialty books. They are such a blessing it would be a shame to lose any of them.
