The milk jug thread had me thinking -- what does a gallon of milk cost by you?

I don't buy organic, and the least expensive milk by us (metro Phoenix) is $2.99/gallon. That price is from Basha's and every 6th gallon is free as well. When I was in Wal-Mart the other day, gallons were $3.72! We drink 2-3 gallons a week in our house.

I'm just curious -- how much is milk and where do you live?

I just got some at Wal-mart yesterday for $3.98/gal for 2% (seems they charge by the fat content!). But Wal-mart is usually the high-end on milk, at least in our area (which is Denver).

Hi Melanie,

Also here in Phx , but we do try to buy organic. I am happy to find it for $5 gallon for organic - usually at Sprouts.

Sometimes Fry's has the 10 for $10 sales, for half gallons.

$3/ gallon is the general "cheap" price here. Both gas and milk have gone up so much in recent years.

We go through 10-12 gallons a week here, and we've been paying $3/gallon average.

God bless,

2/$7 is the "cheap" price here in California for whole milk. That is recently (a few months ago) up from 2/$6.

Here in MN, gallon of milk is $2.76 at Sam's and we go through about 8 gallons a week. Kwik Trip used to be the cheapest but Sam's has them beat.

It's been around $3.75 in town, $4.25 locally, so a $4 average in NE, like KS. BUT...it was on sale 2/$5 last week!

2.58 per gallon, last night at Kroger. Aldi might be a few cents cheaper. it was holding at around 2.19 up until a few weeks ago, but I suppose I can't complain compared to you all!!

Around 4-$4.25 (hormone free but not organic) a gallon in this part of the south. We drink 3-4 gallons a week but I limit the kids to 1 cup at night and then milk on their cereal. They also eat a cup of yogurt a day and drink calcium orange juice in the morning.

We are paying 3.75 a gallon around upstate NY. We go through about 12-15 gallons a week. It is a pity that it is so much cheaper to give them soda to drink.

Pity me. In the lower Hudson valley near NYC, milk (not organic)is around $4.50 a gallon. If I shop around I can sometime get it for as "low" as $3.75, but then there's the gas prices to consider.
We drink a lot of filtered tap water.

Peace and Laughter,

I'm in Kansas, too, but we pay $3.19 for a gallon of 2% milk at Walgreen's. It is about forty cents a gallon more expensive at Wal-Mart. Skim is $2.99 a gallon at Walgreen's. We go through 8-10 gallons a week.

We purchase our milk from Braum's which is a dairy based in Oklahoma (I think it is also in Kansas and Texas as well). My ds will not drink any other milk. It is close to $4.00 a gallon for 2%.

We live on Long Island. I can get a gallon of skim milk at Costco for $3.09 but at the supermarket it is $4.50+

$10.99 for a gallon of organic here (or $2.99 a litre)

$3.75 for a gallon of regular milk.

(Our gallons are a teeny bit bigger up here in Canada)!

We go through about 2-2 1/2 a week!

(I would prefer organic but it can break the bank!)
