Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am planning an Advent Tea in my home for some friends. Could you all share your ideas for what to serve and maybe some devonionals that would be appropriate. I want this focused on Mom's connecting with Christ.

Thanks

Angi

Neat idea Angi. I have no ideas but would love to see what everyone else posts. Maybe I can start something up with our little co-op.

Alice has such lovely teas posted on her blog.

Her Jesse "Tea" for Advent is written with children in mind, but hopefully you will find some inspiration there.

Oh my - that Jesse Tea is FABULOUS!! Thanks so much for sharing!

For the ladies tea...what if you thought of one of your favorite advent crafts/ornaments or decorations and had everything layed out to make with the ladies? Then they would have an ornament or decoration to take home and share with their families. You could read the devotion or just scripture here of Jesus birth while they are crafting.

You could make either Jesse tree ornaments, or what we did last year was make "O Antiphon" ornaments, which we put on the tree (which we put up around the 17th) one each day from the 17th onwards. I made up song sheets with the verses ("Veni, Veni, Emmanuel," as everybody probably already knows!), and the kids and I sang the appropriate one each day when we hung the ornaments. I'd link to the blog posts I did about them at the time, but I didn't have a digital camera to take pictures of them. Maybe I will this year!

So you could either make ornaments together, or give them as "party favors," with the verses to sing with them . . .

Ooh, I love thinking about Advent! Can't believe it's almost that time already.

Sally
