hi,
i would like people to give me opinions regarding toy kitchens. we are thinking of getting one for our 2yodd this Christmas. We are a big family in a small house so toys with little play use and lots of space use are a problem for us. Can you tell me if your children play with the one you have. We have plenty of playfood and dishes. Of course, the real dishes are so much more fun!!
Thanks and God bless,
Mary-NY

Constantly. It is by far the number one most played with indoor item. Worth every dollar.

We have this kitchen
My daughters love it and so do all the other kids that come to play. My dd4 got it for her 3rd bday.

We have a Little Tykes kitchen we bought at least 12 years ago for the girls. It is still in decent shape and though it didn't get played with for a few years (because of the 9 year age gap), the boys now play with it all the time and so do the grandchildren.

Sam likes to get real food from the kitchen to put in the toy refrigerator so we have to keep checking to make sure nothing is going to go bad.

The most played with items in our house are cars and the kitchen. BTW, the Little Tykes version is completely plastic except for the stickers and we kept it on the back porch for over a year and it is still in good shape, except the stickers.    If space is an issue, look for one that could be moved outside.

Blessings,
Krisann

my dd5 kitchen is right outside my kitchen - so she cooks while I cook . She uses it a LOT, and it is just one of the cheaper ones from Walmart that my Mom picked up for her (and I was totally against, as we also have the small house & no space issues.) But, Mom was right and dd uses it most every day, now that I think about it...

Our kitchen is played with a lot. I caved and got a plastic Little Tikes one (depsite wanting wood) because of cost issues, but I stick to all metal and wooden cookware for it and it still looks cute. Actually, a lot the plastic kitchens being put out nowadays aren't too ugly or garish (or gender specific) anymore -- and boy, do they hold up.

We have the same kitchen as Jess posted about up above.

I bought it for my daughters birthday and I am thrilled with the quality of it. Here are some pics of some of the kids enjoying it.

That is the same one we have, too. It has held up very well and is very cute.

We do too! Well, we have an older, slightly different version of it. Ours does not include the refrigerator on the left, but is the same other than that.

My girls have loved it. I highly recommend getting a wooden one over the plastic ones. Many people prefer the natural wood look, but I really love the pastel colors of our kitchen set.

When our two oldest were little we bought a step 2 heavy duty plastic kitchen. It was pretty nice. The kids went through a stage of not playing with it, so we got rid of it(small house, big family). What did my three year old ds beg for last Christmas? A toy kitchen. My mom bought him a cheap one. It has been put to good use by all of the kids. I only wish we could have splurged and bought a wooden set. Oh well.

Those of you with many people in little space - where do you keep it? I don't have a single open wall at this point, anywhere downstairs. (or up for that matter!) I've wanted one of these for my kids for years now, but never could figure out where to put it. I have 3 right now that I know would love love love this. I am inclined to think that if Joann has room, I should too!!

We have a small home. Our beautiful wooden kitchen set is a must have toy. It is a homemade, three piece set, all my dc have and continue to use it constantly.

This is the one we have. We got it on sale. It's nice because it's two sided and free-standing -- it doesn't need to be against a wall.

Ds loves to play with the one that was listed above (Joann's new one), but pink isn't happening here.

Ours fits in a corner but still gives easy access for multiple kids to play -- here it is.

I've been looking at play kitchens too, ever since I came across this handmade one. Isn't it lovely? I'm wondering if I could make something similar out of a thrifted bookcase to avoid that hefty price tag...

I posted a pic of our toy kitchen in our living room.
I won't go on though about the size of our home because, even though it is so tiny, it seems to suit us fine. (I can say that because even my 19 and 20 year olds haven't decided to move out yet.LOL)

I took the photo from the computer chair/ and computer on the opposite side of the room, the front door is to the far left, the recliner where I do knitting, cross stitch, baby rocking and tv watching. You can see our very dirty vacuum, and you see my walls, (I read somewhere once, that you can let your walls teach--ours do--everywhere in the house--and they also display our crafts)
Also in this room, where we do most of our "living" is the TV and a bookcase holding my Catholic mosaic books and our shrine of Our Blessed Mother. I will post from the other side of the room shortly.--let me straighten it first.

Here is one view

Here the other view.

Toys r Us has the Kidkraft kitchen $30 cheaper.

Toy Kitchen

Now I have to decide if I want to look at it in my front room (because that is the only place it will fit) and if it is too girlie for my 2 boys...
