Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dear Families,

Who do you use as your long distance phone company and why?

Thank you...

We use Skype for all of our long distance calls. I don't know how much it costs now, but it only cost us $15 for the year when dh signed up in February. This was far cheaper than using a telephone company, but only works if you have a faster internet connection than dialup. The only inconvenience is that you have to sit at the computer when you make phone calls.

Maria,

We have Qwest -- got a bundled package with phone, cell phone, high speed internet -- long distance is unlimited.

We have our phone & long distance through COX cable -- with the package we have we receive 100 minutes long distance included and anything over is 5 cents (or something)

DH & I use our cell phones for most long distance to families during free minute time, so we rarely go over on our land line.

We use Vonage-- over the internet/cable modem. I don't know how it works, or how much it costs, but dh found it to be the best deal and we get unlim long distance.

We use Sienna Group for home long distance and cell because they donate a portion of your bill to a Catholic or pro-life group of your choosing and their rates were similar or lower than what we had been paying with Qwest. We've had them for a couple years and been very happy. And when you call customer service, a REAL PERSON answers!

We don't have long distance. We buy the calling card from Costco. It costs $20 and it lasts us for over 4 months or longer, usually longer. So we only pay for regular local calling on a monthly basis, which is just over $30 per month. If you don't do much long distance calling...this could be better...but I don't know how it compares.

We do the calling card thing from sam's club too. So no long distance on the home phone (quest). The taxes, etc. for the miniscule long distance that we used were ridiculous. $20 lasts us forever too.

Use Quest for dh's "bundle" for his work office....long distance (unlimited), dsl, etc.

Be careful with these cards..I recently noticed my balance diminishing faster than I thought I was using it. Come to find out for in-state calls they were charging me 3 minutes for one. Check the back of your cards to see if you are in one of the "lovely" states that does this. Ohio is one and Virginia is another.
Thanks for asking this as I need to figure something out for in state as I am now paying 10 cents a minute-ouch!

Anne thanks for the heads up. The back of my card doesn't say this...and I haven't noticed it diminishing fast either. But maybe I just don't call in-state enough to notice anyways, that would be a drawback.

Here, too (Washington).....it changed about 6 months ago. For in-state calls it's more. I don't call in-state much, mostly state-to-state.
